It's Tuesday! It's also October 6th! Those dates have a couple of meanings. One of which is that A Respectable Gentleman is released today! I am posting one more teaser chapter for those of you who are on the fence. This is not a small book. It's 50 chapters and 426 pages of Darcy and Elizabeth, depending upon whether you read an ebook/Kindle or a paperback.

Today, we  have a cover as you may have noticed on the home page of the site 🙂 I also have the preorder up for anyone who wants to order a copy so it's ready to go as soon as it's released. I'll have a larger version of the cover after the chapter.

We're a few days closer to release day! Today, you get your next installment of A Respectable Gentleman. Remember release day is October 6th. Happy Friday my loyal Austen peeps! You haven't had a book from me in a long while (longer than usual for me), and I apologize for that. I began writing this after publishing my last book, and it kind of turned into a whale--to write and in size. Just to give you a heads up, this one is all about gender swapping just about everyone but ODC.

If you've been looking for something a little spicier to read this autumn, I've got you covered! My favorite stories and best sellers are getting a fresh new update. Beginning with Unwilling, these books dive deeper into the characters' darker emotions and most intimate moments. What was closed is now open. What was hidden is now revealed. These are the books as I originally imagined them but was too scared and inexperienced to do the first time around.

Hello friends! If you’ve been following me on social media, you may have seen that I recently launched my own publishing company, Highbury Park Press, along with our fiction imprint, Box Hill Books. One of the things I’m especially excited about with Box Hill Books is the opportunity to publish both Austenesque fiction and accessible editions of the classic novels that inspired so many of the stories we know and love today.

IT'S HERE! Release day is always amazing. And a little terrifying. But mostly amazing. Today I get to send a very different Darcy and Elizabeth story out into the world. Because in this one, Lady Anne Darcy is still alive. How did that happen, and, more importantly . . . how does having his mother still very much present in his life change Fitzwilliam Darcy (and some of our other canon characters)?

As of Sunday the 6th, What Change Entails is officially out in the world! At its heart, this one is very much a Darcy and Elizabeth story. It is about what happens after Hunsford, when Darcy has taken Elizabeth's words seriously, Elizabeth has had reason to reconsider some of her judgments, and they unexpectedly find themselves together again at Pemberley.

Join us for a walk through memory lane and discover a new favorite book--all free or discounted this week! Even after all these years, this is one of my favorite books. I learned so much in the process of writing it, it was pivotal in my author journey. I loved all the twists and turns in this book. It was suspenseful, challenging, romantic and well worded.

It’s here! 🎉🎉🎉 I’m so excited to share that the new Box Hill Classics audiobook of Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice, narrated by the phenomenal Stevie Zimmerman, is officially live on Audible! 🦚 Last week, I shared the secret project Stevie and I had been working on behind the scenes. For those who missed that post, I had long thought it would be wonderful to hear Stevie—whose voice will already be very familiar to so many JAFF listeners—bring Jane Austen’s original Pride and Prejudice to life.

Hello, Readers! “An Odyssey of Affection: began as a story because of Google maps. Well, really because I couldn’t sleep. I was “strolling” through the street of Canterbury one night and came across St. Augustin’s Abby. Now, like almost every other person, I love stories with ruins and secret conversations between our favorite couple. So, still unable to sleep, I began to play around with a few ideas.

Hi friends, I’ve been working on a special project behind the scenes for the past couple of months, and I'm so excited to finally get to share it with you! Every time I start a new Regency romance, I tell myself something very sensible: This one will be easy. I already know the period. Every single time, I am wrong. Because one of the real pleasures of writing Pride and Prejudice variations set in historical periods (the British regency, mostly) is how quickly a small detail turns into something much larger.

I'm excited to announce the upcoming audiobook release of my 2016 P&P variation A Remedy Against Sin, read by the amazing Elizabeth Grace! I wrote this novel over a decade ago, when JAFF was well on its way as a genre but wasn't being published as frequently on Amazon (or other sites). I was especially intrigued by the "forced marriage" or "early marriage" scenario.

The audiobook for The Marriage Trap is finally here! Harry Frost has done his usual amazing job,  and I am so excited to share it with you! This is a Ramsgate/London story with a seaside scandal, one very inconvenient compromise, and a forced marriage. Thank you all so much for celebrating with me 15 wonderful years of The Darcys of Pemberley! - which also represents 15 wonderful years for me of being a published author! Good news! So congratulations to: Myrna, Betty Campbell Madden, Valerie, Helen, Kaidi, irisz13, Nina Brask, T.

Happy last day of July! How has this seventh month of the year treated you? It has been a month full of adventures for me, including a trip to England (!) and a decent amount of writing! I'm excited to be back to my stories! I'm not yet ready to share anything new, but I was looking through old files and came across this short story, which I posted in 2021.

Wow! My first (and still most popular) darling literary child is 15 years old today! In some ways, it seems like only yesterday, but how much my world has changed since then! It's still a bit surreal to me that I'm a published author with thousands of readers. And it all began with The Darcys of Pemberley. You should know that when I started writing the story in 2004, I had absolutely no idea if I could do it, and I didn't even know that such a thing as Jane Austen Fan Fiction (JAFF) existed.

A picnic sounds simple, right? A basket, a blanket, a shady tree, good things to eat, maybe some lemonade. But in the Regency era, it was more complicated. The word “picnic” had already appeared in English by the mid-eighteenth century, but by the Regency period it had become associated with genteel outdoor dining, especially among those wealthy (Lee, 2019). In practice, a picnic was not merely “let us eat outside.” It was an undertaking.

July? How is it July? It feels like a decade since I've made a post! Wait, has it been ten years? Well, not since I last posted here, but it was a decade ago that I hit "publish" on this newfangled thing called KDP and sent my first book, A Remedy Against Sin, out into the world. I had absolutely no expectation that anyone would read it, and when I received my first review (something along the lines of, Meh...three stars), I thought, "Fair enough!"

I am planning to spend most of the summer in Edinburgh, which despite its manifold attractions, is not the first place you associate with Jane Austen (although to be sure, the archives of her publisher John Murray, who published  Lord Byron as well as Austen, are now held at the National Library of Scotland, in Edinburgh). Also I may be too distracted by climbing Arthur's Seat (an aim of mine) or eating Cullin Skink chowder (another)  to come up with new stories.

I considered naming my protagonist Mr. Darcy and giving him a jaunty cravat. I could have called the girl Elizabeth too, I suppose. I could have, but I didn't. I didn't even contrive a sneaky way to insert Jane Austen's name or the words "pride" and "prejudice" repeatedly into the text. I won't try to fool you. This new book is in no way, shape, or form a JAFF story.
