Thought for the month: Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbour. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover. – Mark Twain

A productive August Book Month. If you are familiar with the English comedian Spike Milligan (now deceased), you will understand my focus on his war memoirs. He wrote seven volumes, and the #audiobooks (read by Spike) are available on YouTube. I'll finish the rest in September. #booksky #reading

Finally some common sense. The Supreme Court of New South Wales in Australia has drawn attention to an important distinction: opposition to Zionism or criticism of the Israeli government is not automatically the same thing as antisemitism. Israel is a country, it is not the Jewish people.

I'll let you know when Musk replies...

Elon Musk, How are your plans going for the Grok version of The Odyssey? Which Greek actor will portray Odysseus, Zeus, Poseidon, Athena, et al? Of course, for full authenticity all dialog will have to be in Homeric Greek I can’t wait to see the finished work.

I'm heading to #Paris in November for a week or more if my budget allows (and tRump doesn't find an excuse to bomb the city), and this book is going to come in very handy. #BookSky #Hemingway

#BookSky Call me impatient if you want to, but how long does it take for 3 or 4 people to listen to a 7hr #audiobook? I’ve been waiting around 6wks, and the wait is driving me crazy. When I finally get my chance it will take at most 3 sessions to finish the book. Come on, already!

Currently working my way through Nicolas Winding Refn's curated list of 24 restored, but obscure films (mostly) from the 1960s and 1970s via #Mubi. The old saying: "One person's trash is another person's treasure," has never been more appropriate! #FilmSky #Movies #NWR

Well, that's a wrap. I finished my 60th book for 2025, Elijah Wald's "Dylan Goes Electric!" I was lucky enough to be in the room when Wald discussed the book at the 92nd Street Y, in New York City in June, 2016. Here's to another year of #books in 2026. #booksky

Private Eye gets it right as always. Private Eye magazine, is the UK's number one best-selling news and current affairs publication.

Image depicts the cover of the British magazine 'Private Eye. The cover headline reads, "UKRAINE PEACE PLAN LATEST". In the photo are Donald Trump and Vladimir Zelensky. Trump says to Zelensky "Guess what the deal is?" Zelensky replies, "I give in." Trump says, "Correct!"

I started reading 'The Story of Charlotte's Web' by Michael Sims, then stopped part way through to read E.B. White's classic (a book I had not read for many, many years), before continuing with the Sims book. It was lovely to reacquaint myself with Fern, Wilbur, and of course Charlotte. #booksky
