The last Conduit is dead—and Magpie of Lornwhen, perpetual troublemaker and incurable dreamer, is thrilled about it. Two clueless lesbians. A forest full of spirits and giant mushrooms. A journey of love and ascension. #agentguide #querying #QuestPit #Q #F #NA #LGBT #ND

Text: An agent’s guide to When the Magpie Flies by M H Wottenmoss. Background of mountains, trees, and giant mushrooms. A magpie flies in the sky.

Pitch: Magpie of Lornwhen, hobbyist scholar and incurable troublemaker, refuses to believe she hasn’t been chosen as a Conduit.

Wild spiritwoods cage the human cities of Iridis, and the Conduits are humanity’s only defense against the monstrous spirits that lurk within. Magpie has always dreamed of becoming one of these elite spirit-whisperers, who never want for anything, never wonder where their next meal is coming from, never have to shelter in a half-crumbled clocktower no one else wants. When Magpie is definitely, absolutely chosen by a spirit, she finally has her chance.

Calladonna, her best friend and partner-in-survival, doesn’t want Mag to be a Conduit. There are rumors about how it changes people, how they don’t come back quite right. More than human — or less. Determined to reassure her friend and keep them together, Mag convinces Calla to follow her in secret, hidden from the other Conduits as they undertake a sacred journey into the heart of the spiritwoods. But Mag’s secrets can’t stay hidden forever, and when the consequences turn deadly, she has to make a decision: abandon her dreams or risk losing Calla forever.

Comps: A Dark and Drowning Tide by Allison Saft: clueless lesbians, murder and betrayal, journey of ascension. Nettle & Bone by T. Kingfisher: found family, humor and darkness, perilous quest.

Also featuring undiscovered magic, monstrous spirits, chaotic academia, ill-advised rituals, haunted forest, queer & autistic ensemble cast, giant mushrooms, original music

Opening lines: The world went dark just after she jumped off the roof. In one moment she could see the clocktower before her, the ledge beneath its defunct face familiar and inviting, and in the next there was nothing. It wasn't an uncommon occurrence, necessarily, but damn if that wasn't inconvenient timing.

“Most folks hate easy and love hard. Should be the other way around, I reckon.” Jasminda Ul-Sarifor and Jaqros Alliaseen from A Song of Blood and Stone by Leslye Penelope. #digitalart #bookishart #earthsingerchronicles

A woman with brown skin and black curly hair in a light blue dress stands next to a fair skin man with ginger hair and golden eyes wearing a formal military uniform. The couple are askew, the woman looking at the sky and the man looking at her. The woman is holding a red glowing stone in her left hand and the man is holding a ceremonial sword in his right. Behind them is a blurred background of a tall mountain, a forest, and a very distant city. Golden billowly clouds fill the sky behind them.

When there is almost no fan art of one of your favorite book characters, so you decide to fix that. Jasminda from the Earthsinger Chronicles. Super excited to finish this so I can work on the Davryn and Kyara piece next! #earthsingerchronicles

Working on some bookish fan art. Guess the book 👀

A monochrome image of a sketch. The subjects are a young man and woman at a slanted angle with windswept hair and clothes. The man is wearing a military uniform with a pistol holster and a sword in hand, and the woman is wearing a simple dress with a dark stone floating in her left hand. Behind them, there is a distant city and a tall mountain. The man is looking at the woman with a smirk on his face, while the woman is stares determinedly off into the distance.

Remember that when AI stole your shit, Big Publishing did not fight for your copyright. This should cause an immense shift in author/publisher dynamics because it's huge. And yet...

I'm thinking about doing sketch and lineart commissions like these on Vgen. Does anyone have a code? And if not, please help an artist out by liking and sharing. #VGenCode #art #commission
