Migrant farm workers might not benefit unless the exceptions are also removed / altered.
Because exemptions are generally narrowly defined under the FLSA, an employer should carefully check the exact terms and conditions for each. Detailed information is available from local WHD offices.

Following are examples of exemptions which are illustrative, but not all-inclusive. These examples do not define the conditions for each exemption.

Exemptions from Both Minimum Wage and Overtime Pay

1. Executive, administrative, and professional employees (including teachers and academic administrative personnel in elementary and secondary schools), outside sales employees, and employees in certain computer-related occupations (as defined in DOL regulations);
2. Employees of certain seasonal amusement or recreational establishments, employees of certain small newspapers, seamen employed on foreign vessels, employees engaged in fishing operations, and employees engaged in newspaper delivery;
3. [begin highlight] Farmworkers employed by anyone who used no more than 500 “man-days” of farm labor in any calendar quarter of the preceding calendar year; [end highlight]
4. Casual babysitters and persons employed as companions to the elderly or infirm.

The folks who are all-in on "we've created a god which determines the fate of humanity."
Super Intelligence: The Future of AI and Its Implications for Humanity
NeuroLaunch editorial team
September 30, 2024 Updated May 18, 2026

Super intelligence, AI that doesn’t just match human thinking but obliterates it across every domain, is no longer purely a thought experiment. The question researchers are now seriously debating isn’t whether it’s possible, but when, and whether we’ll have the alignment problem solved before we get there. The answer to that second question may determine more about humanity’s future than any other decision we ever make.

Key Takeaways

Super intelligence refers to AI that surpasses human cognitive ability across all domains, not just specific tasks, a threshold fundamentally different from anything that currently exists

Researchers distinguish three tiers: narrow AI (what we have now), artificial general intelligence (human-level across all tasks), and artificial superintelligence (far beyond human capacity)

TruthSocial post by Donald J. Trump, 11:53 p.m. September 22, 2026.

All of the sleazebags, like Third Rate “Reporter,” Kaitlan Collins, of Fake News CNN, a truly unhappy person, said they weren’t going to be covering me. Then why were they ranting and raving like Lunatics, in the Press Area, at the United Nations? Why was she there? She’s got a “Trump” addiction, and so does CNN and MSDNC. They’re all sick, treasonous, and demented! The “good news” is that they have a great, for them, and totally disloyal Judge. Make America Great Again! President Donald J. Trump

Are we sure he didn't say *beets*? Looks like beet prices are in the $2/pound range.

Beet Price Guide: Cost of Beets in the U.S 2026
March 1, 2026

Beet prices in the United States vary by form (fresh, canned, pre-packaged), size, and season. The main cost drivers are yield, supply, and where beets are purchased (grocery store vs. farmers market). Understanding the cost helps buyers compare options and plan budgets accurately.
Item Low Average High Notes
Fresh beets per lb $0.90 $1.40 $2.20 Unwashed, with tops sold separately
Fresh beets per bunch $0.99 $2.00 $3.50 Typically 3–4 medium beets
Store-bought canned beets $0.80 $1.20 $2.00 Heinz-style or generic brands
Beet greens, per bunch $0.60 $1.20 $2.00 Often included with root beets

Assumptions: U.S. grocery retail prices, standard sizes, seasonal variations, and common retail formats (loose roots, pre-packaged bundles).

I'm a Michelin star chef because I hired a caterer.
If you put in the raw ingredients that is needed to prepare this meal and all the ideas are yours what is wrong with having AI prepare it? All the foundation was yours. Maybe you're not that great of a chef, but hey you can sure select ingredients, describe dishes and plan your own menu. Yet the problem comes in putting it all together. Isn't that chefs use to do before AI was hire GHOST chefs to finish a meal?

SynthID adds an invisible digital watermark to an AI-generated image (or video segment). The watermark doesn’t change the image or video quality. It’s added the moment content is created, and designed to stand up to modifications like cropping, adding filters, changing frame rates, or lossy compression.

Mike Pence: Politics is No Place for 'Name Calling'
by Vaughn Hillyard

Mike Pence chastised President Obama on Friday for indirectly referring to Donald Trump as a demagogue, saying—perhaps ironically—that "name calling" has "no place in public life."

Pence, responding directly to the president's comments about Trump at the Democratic convention on Wednesday, told conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt: "I don't think name calling has any place in public life, and I thought that was unfortunate that the president of the United States would use a term like that."

Vaccines do not cause Autism*

Pursuant to the Data Quality Act (DQA), which requires federal agencies to ensure the quality, objectivity, utility, and integrity of information they disseminate to the public, this webpage has been updated because the statement "Vaccines do not cause autism" is not an evidence-based claim. Scientific studies have not ruled out the possibility that infant vaccines contribute to the development of autism. However, this statement has historically been disseminated by the CDC and other federal health agencies within HHS to prevent vaccine hesitancy.

HHS has launched a comprehensive assessment of the causes of autism, including investigations on plausible biologic mechanisms and potential causal links. This webpage will be updated with gold-standard science that results from the HHS comprehensive assessment of the causes of autism as required by the DQA.

The following, as required by the DQA, details the state of the evidence and studies, and the lack thereof, regarding vaccines and autism spectrum disorder (autism) and outlines HHS future research directions to provide answers.HHS Research on Plausible Biologic Mechanisms between Vaccines and Autism

HHS will evaluate plausible biologic mechanisms between early childhood vaccinations and autism. Mechanisms for further investigation include the impacts of aluminum adjuvants, risks for certain children with mitochondrial disorders, harms of neuroinflammation, and more.

*Scientists have not identified the root causes of autism. HHS continues to support rigorous scientific research and will update this page as reliable new evidence becomes available.

Good update. Not sure my containers of water are going to freeze outside in this weather, though.
Here are 4 tips on food safety amid power outages

Fresh on the heels of a heat wave, heavy storms ripped through Lancaster County over the Fourth of July weekend, downing trees, damaging homes and cars, and causing tens of thousands to lose power, some for several days.

Being prepared for power outages can help you keep your refrigerated and frozen food safe until electricity is restored and things are back to normal. FoodSafety.gov and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration share some things you can do to be prepared.

Freeze containers of water to help keep food cold in the freezer, fridge or coolers. If your water supply gets contaminated, you can melt the ice and drink the water.
Keep the fridge and freezer doors closed as much as possible. An unopened fridge will keep food cold about four hours. A full freezer will hold its temperature for about 48 hours (half that time if it’s half full).
Instead, fill buckets, empty milk cartons or cans with clean water, place them outside to freeze, then put the “homemade” ice in your fridge, freezer or coolers.
And, when the power goes out, freeze refrigerated items such as leftovers, milk and fresh meat and poultry that you won’t need immediately. This helps keep them at a safe temperature longer.

Can someone teach the US Department of Education about the difference between percentages and percentage points? Also, who else is excited for a 2-year 0.75pp boost in interest savings? No one? Yeah. It's not nothing but sure isn't much either.
Thank you for staying current on your federal student loans through auto pay! Starting July 1, 2026, your interest rate reduction will go from 0.25% to 1%.

This additional interest rate reduction is a temporary benefit available through June 30, 2028, as long as you remain enrolled in auto pay and continue repayment on your federal student loans.

This additional interest rate reduction on your eligible federal student loans means you'll accrue less interest and pay off your loans more quickly.

After June 30, 2028, as long as you remain enrolled in auto pay, your interest rate discount will automatically return to 0.25%.

REMEMBER: This benefit is automatic—you do not need to contact your loan servicer to receive it.

Ohio "Importuning" Law May Face State Supremes

Datalounge, May 4, 2001

JEFFERSON, OH — An Ohio law which makes it a crime to sexually proposition someone of the same sex may be challenged in the Ohio Supreme Court, the gay newspaper Gay People’s Chronicle reports.

Ohio’s "importuning" law makes it is a first-degree misdemeanor to solicit a "person of the same sex to engage in sexual activity, knowing that such solicitation was offensive to the other person or being reckless in that regard." The law does not apply to members of the opposite sex.

The paper says that police often cite the statute in making arrests at cruising areas. Gay men are brought up for violating the statute if they so much as hint to an undercover that they are interested in sex.

The case that may go before the court concerns Eric Thompson, who solicited a jogger. The jogger declined Thompson’s advance and he shrugged it off, but the jogger later complained to police.

Thompson’s attorney, Marie Lane, moved to dismiss the charge, arguing that the state law violates federal and state constitutional guarantees to equal protection under the law. The trial court rejected the motion. As the defendant was on parole for an earlier burglary conviction, Thompson was sentenced to jail and given an additional six months on the "importuning" violation.

Good to boost for the lucky 10,000!
xkcd comic titled "10,000".

Two panels.

First panel narrator text: "I try not to make fun of people for admitting they don't know things. Because for each thing 'everyone knows' by the time they're adults, every day there are on average 10000 people in the US hearing about it for the first time. Fraction who have heard of it at birth = 0%, fraction who have heard of it by 30 = 100%, US birth rate = 4 million per year, number hearing about it for the first time = 10,000 per day"

Second panel: Narrator: "If I make fun of people, I train them not to tell me when they have those moments and I miss out on the fun."

Two stick figures talking to one another:

Person 1: "Diet coke and mentos thing? What's that?

Person 2: Oh Man! Come on, we're going to the grocery store.

Person 1: Why?

Person 2: You're one of today's lucky 10,000!

Laws on how the left lane is to be used (like so many driving laws) vary by state in the US. You'd be correct in 30 states.
States fall into three main categories. The strictest states require all vehicles to use the left lane only for passing or turning left. These include Illinois, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Massachusetts, and New Jersey. The second group requires slower traffic to keep right but allows left lane driving if you’re keeping pace with traffic flow. The third group has minimal restrictions, only requiring lane changes when you’re actually impeding traffic.

Table headings:
Law Type, Number of States, Basic Rule

Keep Right Except to Pass, 30, Left lane for passing only
Slower Traffic Keep Right, 15, Move over if slower than traffic
Minimal Restriction, 5, Only move if actively impeding

After Andrew came out of a homosexual lifestyle, he reflected, “The gay community had given me an identity and a support system. Over and against the straight scene and its often harsh and ignorant response to homosexuals, the gay community had provided a haven within which my inner conflict was eased, my homosexuality reinforced.” The point is not to pit the “gay” community against the “straight” community, but rather to notice how [begin highlight] the homosexual community becomes a refuge from condemnation and conviction. It becomes a place where people aren’t challenged [end highlight] they are only ever approved. When the gay community approves of what God disapproves, they willingly live in deception. And when the straight community condemns those whom God loves and wants to heal, they drive the struggler into exile.

Approval among like-minded people gives us a powerful sense of protection and normalcy. Christopher observed how his cycle of binging on homosexuality had its highs and devastating lows, “I learned to live from the affirmation I got from…male types who were attracted to me…[yet] my lowest point

The brazen heterosexuality. Wait. What are we supposed to be upset about here?
Social media posts from the period show the pair publicly acknowledging their relationship, including birthday tributes, affectionate exchanges, and references to spending Valentine’s Day together.

Not me over here thinking the complaint is the inclusion of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (smaller branches) but not the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the big one) and missing that the LDS lacks “Christian —” in front of it.
Timeline titled "Main branches of the Latter Day Saint movement"
Joseph Smith followed by lines for William Bickerton, Rigdonites, Hedrick's Church of Christ, Smith III's Community of Christ, Strang's Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Young's Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

If I were placing a wager, it'd be on that last child. Unless he has a queer kid, in which case it's totally that one.
Marriages

In 2004, Hegseth married Meredith Schwarz, a graduate of Forest Lake Area High School, at the Cathedral of Saint Paul in Minnesota; they were voted "most likely to marry" by their graduating class. Meredith filed for divorce in December 2008 after Hegseth admitted to five affairs; he had been dating Samantha Deering, whom he had met at Vets For Freedom. Hegseth married Deering, with whom he has three children, in 2010; they filed for divorce in 2017. In 2019, Hegseth married Jennifer Rauchet, a producer on Fox & Friends, at Trump National Golf Club Colts Neck in New Jersey, in an event attended by the Trump family.

Hegseth fathered a child with Rauchet while he was still married to Deering.

The administration that isn't enforcing the Beneficial Ownership reporting to stop the use of shell corps to hide money moves is gonna now require nonprofits know more about where their money goes? Too bad we don't know who the beneficial owners are of all these corps…
ALERT [Updated March 26, 2025]:
All entities created in the United States — including those previously known as “domestic reporting companies” — and their beneficial owners are now exempt from the requirement to report beneficial ownership information (BOI) to FinCEN. Existing foreign companies that must report their beneficial ownership information have at least an additional 30 days from March 26, 2025—until April 25, 2025, for most companies—to do so. For more information, see press release and alert.

Wisdom of the Jewish Sages: A Modern Reading of Pirke Avot by Rabbi Rami M. Shapiro, p. 41.

“Rabbi Tarfon would say:

You are not obligated to complete the work, but neither are you free to abandon it.

Do not be daunted
by the enormity of the world's grief.
Do justly, now.
Love mercy, now.
Walk humbly, now.

if you attend to Reality,
you will receive great reward:
for effort itself is good fortune.

Reality can be trusted
to pay you the value of your work;
every deed has a consequence.

And know this—
the payment of the rigteous is tranquility:
knowing that “this, too, shall pass.”

11:20

Inset from the introduction: “This English version of Pirke Avot is not a translation; it is an interpretive reading. My goal is not to translate Hebrew and Aramaic into English, but to make plain the message of Avot as I understand it. There is nothing definitive about this reading. It is not meant to replace others and may be used in conjuction with them.”
