For more on what's going on at #bournemouthuni, see our updates here: ucubournemouth.uk/2025/09/12/a... Meanwhile we do what we can to support each other and our students. We're aware many branches and unis are going through similar, if not worse, things--solidarity! ✊🔥 #bournemouth #ucu #highered

Actions & concerns, September 12 2025

We’re still in a trade dispute, but we’re hoping that prompt University response to our concerns and request for ACAS conciliation will help to avert strike action.

We've hoped for prompt response to our concerns and request for Acas conciliation to avert a strike during Welcome Week and the first teaching week--we suggested that concrete meaningful engagement by Monday 15th September would be useful, but it's Friday and afaik we're waiting... #bournemouthuni

Teaching -2 weeks: It's interesting prepping for the new semester--many colleagues took VR & the uni was fully restructured over the last three months, a timeframe which is certainly a choice that has had effects. #bournemouthuni #bournemouth #highered #ucu

Kentwich may have come without any (required?) consultation of staff and trade unions, but that isn't stopping branches from getting to work and ensuring staff gets represented and acts together. 🫶 Sending much solidarity to the excellent people @ucugreenwich.bsky.social & @ucukent.bsky.social!

Today is exhausting. Solidarity to all my colleagues at the University of Kent. I'm getting nothing done today apart from UCU work (necessary and important, but the start of term is looming!!) Take care of yourselves and each other. One silver lining - working with @ucugreenwich.bsky.social

Amidst all the very real and very scary hi-jinx at Kent and Greenwich, spare a thought for employees at our institution. Who yesterday were told (out of the blue) that they will not be receiving the national pay award or incremental progression up the pay spine... (cntd)

A motion urging @ucu.org.uk to open a dispute with the secretary of state for education has passed without amendments at Congress. This is an important first step in redirecting our energies beyond random vice-chancellors to a fundamentally broken and unfair funding system #UCU2025 💪💪💪💪💪💪
