There’s been a lot of supposition about this, but this is the clearest evidence I’ve seen yet that the drop in private new car registrations has been driven in part by private buyers getting a new car through salary sacrifice instead.

I used to work (consultancy-side) for Vauxhall. It was always clear to me that the top brass wanted to close Luton. It’s fought for its existence for so many years with various reinventions, but it’s the awkward child. Incredibly sad for the employees that it’s closing, but not remotely surprising.
