The exit poll interviews suggest they need to be taken seriously: A lot of those crucial voters straight up preferred Hong's policies, and only voted Crowley out of practicality. Moderates should be concerned the DSA is only held back by their candidate quality, not their platform.

This kind of reply is just as much political malpractice as the headline. It is still stunning in its actual result, because in the end of the day its a DSA candidate barely losing in a purple state and only being sunk because of insane beliefs about cancelling holidays.

I mean, it's one way to fret over them still having influence but... It was also *a lot*. AIPAC really went the hardest they've had, causing a 9 to 1 spending advantage for Stevens vs AES. To still lose shows the limitation of that spending.

Basically what I said on the other comment. Energy and perceptions matters in politics. I'm saying this from past experience. I recommend looking at the political career of Joe Morrissey of VA. This has happened before, and very often has little to do with policy.

I think it requires a more robust answer than that tbh. It's also going to require the establishment to actually fix their image. The article even mentions how they're busy in wine parties when the socialists are actually hitting the streets. ...And flubs it by ending it with a "kick them out!"

But, they actually won elections now. It's the *voters* cheering for the establishment to get kicked out now, as can be seen by DSA's higher approval nationwide, and that's going to require a vastly different solution if you want to avoid the answer of "DSA successfully taking over the party".

For the most part, the comparison to the Labor party's woes in the past is just generally a bad look right now. Their center just suffered a lot of humiliation recently, and their advisors *may* have costed the Democratic Party 2024 after all (they were very involved in Harris's run!)
