Like most migrants my previous home became too caustic and dangerous for my safety.

She’s placed her spine next to your legs. This is to provide comfort and warmth for you. Just accept the love she’s selflessly giving up her bed to provide.

Those cheers are why I don’t give a crap what happens to them. They are the disease. They have a school yard bully mentality.

At least it wasn’t your reading glasses so perilously perched upon your head.

I often remark “this meal is 100% ours” as in we (me) raised everything on our plates. I raise my own chickens and turkeys and garden, so that happens quite often and I’m always proud of it. It’s a nice feeling to enjoy. Congrats.

Most winter squash can be used when tender and also grown and cured for winter. Last year I lost my zucchini and just used my young butter cup squash (before the skin begins to toughen and seeds develop) as a replacement in soups and muffins.

Several of those sugars are actually corn syrup.

My third sized roo is about to be put in the naughty pen. He’s chasing off sweet and gentle Roger (who only became sweet and gentle after spending a week in the naughty pen a couple years ago)

🤷🏼‍♀️ it’s no different to me than two people talking in a crowded place. I don’t feel the need to listen in, so I don’t care if they’re talking to themselves or someone else.

Nope that is blight. Also evidenced by the dead leaves and vines. Anthracnose would be my guess. There are several types of blight that tomatoes are subject to besides the mineral deficiencies.

I’m in Wisconsin. They aren’t sold in stores here either. I think the viney leaves look pretty, so when I have a sweet potato with sprouts I root them and then put em in any ole pot. I never get sweet potatoes because I cut the vines and use the leaves all winter. It’s a pretty 🪴 with a use.

I think sweet potato leaves would be fine for you also. I raise pak Choi, so I do that also.

You don’t have to cook soup until it’s mush. I make fresh soup in under 30 minutes. The veggies still have a bit of texture. I like to add some fresh greens like chopped kale, spinach or sweet potato leaves, stir and shut the burner off. 5 minute steam and soups on.

I agree with your wife. The type is based on what’s readily available season wise. Cold soups in the height of summer are as soothing as a steaming bowl during a snowstorm.

My sister in law claimed that her dr told her that her cancer would have not been caught in time if she were in Canada. I asked her if she realized her dr was heavily invested in health related stocks. She didn’t get it.

I never trust polls. However, if the polls are even close to correct it doesn’t say anything good about the 44% of Texans that’d willingly vote for a man they absolutely know is 100% corrupt.

When I was a kid most farmers were democrats. Then republicans started this whole us verses them bull shit and they bought it hook, line and sinker. I’ve lived in both rural and urban. Both have the same basic needs. They’ve cut off their nose to spite their own faces.

My son’s birthday is just a few days before Halloween and he has always requested ghoulish type cakes since before he was a teen. This is something he would LOVE for a birthday party. He’s gonna be 23 this year. I think I might offer him the idea. I’m currently making homemade turkey brats. 🤔

Bigger containers help, and self watering ones will provide longer moisture availability to allow the plants to produce more. You’ll still have to water them daily. In high heat I’ve been known to move my plants into a shady area, or provide some. It helps when the temps are blistering.

I’m in the USA, but I concur. I do raise process and store the bulk of what we eat. Small garden, small greenhouse and small hydroponics net me a lot of excess produce. I love making a meal and noting that I raised everything.

Ann Truwe @atruwe.bsky.social · 19/09/2026
Yeah. Probably made you more aware that the USA isn’t all that. I would have loved to send my younger son to Europe, but his school didn’t offer the experience and Covid restrictions. He’s also a bit agoraphobic, so I’d have had to drug him to send him.

When my oldest was 15 going on 16 he went to Europe for the summer on a school trip. When he came home he had stopped making his bed. I asked why. He said maids did it all summer. When he graduated he went into the military. He made his own bed while in station or on base. Otherwise nope. He changed

For those that market it that way. They use genetically modified crops that can grow without certain nutrients and then that lack of nutrient ends up in our diets. Then we need to take supplements to augment what should have been in what we consumed. Those are the corporate farms and they’re greedy

The amount of fossil fuel use to create ethanol kinda makes it foolish. Brazil was making fuel from sugar beets years ago. That’d actually be smarter. Cattle are healthier raised on grass and hay. A farmer I like raises red angus. He’d never feed commercial feed. His are raised on hay and his grass.

Kofta comes immediately to mind. In a pinch I’ll use dried, but fresh is so much better. I find it’s common in recipes I use from the Mediterranean, Middle East, African and western Asian dishes.
