We are pleased to see the continued growth of Mojave, closing its $19M Series B to scale production of its ArctiDry platform. Their patented liquid desiccant technology results in 30% to 60% lower energy use than standard HVAC and payback under 18 months.

It's completely normal to walk into situations focused on what one wants to accomplish or the point one is trying to make. But leading with personal goals crowds out the space needed to truly listen and absorb another person's perspective.

Can We Redesign the Economy Before It's Too Late? | Climate Capital | Tom Chi | Google X
What if the economy isn't broken — just badly designed? Tom Chi, Google X founding member, inventor of 77 patents, and now venture capitalist at At One Ventures, joined me on An Analog Brain In A Digital Age to talk about his new book Climate Capital: Investing in the Tools for a Regenerative Future. We covered a lot of ground: why Florence convinced him that sustainable and beautiful aren't mutually exclusive, how capitalism got hijacked by ad revenue and cognitive capture, why 90% of the cost structure of physical businesses already aligns economy with ecology — and why nobody is talking about that. This is not a doom-and-gloom climate conversation. It's a design conversation. And it starts with asking: what kind of future are we actually building — and for whom? Key topics covered: The Florence Epiphany: how an ancient city answered a question about sustainable design that Silicon Valley never asked How ad-supported tech moved from serving users to strip mining their attention — and their cognition The Three Epochs of Ecological Technology: a roadmap from where we are to a regenerative economy Why 90% of the cost structure of physical businesses already aligns economic and ecological goals — and why that never makes the news The Four C's — critical thinking, creativity, compassion, community — as the essential human skills for the 21st century Cognitive despoiling: the 21st century version of strip mining, happening inside our heads 📺 Watch | 🎙️ Listen | marcociappelli.com Chapters 0:00 - Introduction & Tom Chi's Background 3:00 - Google Glass, Inventing & The Maker's Mindset 5:17 - The Florence Epiphany: Sustainable Can Be Beautiful 9:49 - Reframing Capitalism & Economic Systems 11:49 - Cognitive Capture: How Ad Models Hijacked Our Attention 18:37 - The Book: Three Challenges of the 21st Century & The Four C's 22:30 - The Three Epochs of Ecological Technology 29:01 - Climate Action, At One Ventures & The Triad Framework 36:25 - The 90% Alignment: Where Economy & Ecology Already Agree 39:35 - Media, Misinformation & The News-Entertainment Merger 44:37 - Strip Mining Cognitive Resources — The New Planetary Crisis 49:25 - Who This Book Is For & Closing Thoughts YouTube Tags Tom Chi, Climate Capital, Google X, regenerative economy, climate investing, At One Ventures, ecological technology, four Cs framework, cognitive capture, sustainable economy, climate tech, Marco Ciappelli podcast, analog brain digital age, clean tech investing, nature positive economy, deep tech, venture capital climate, regenerative future
