Happy Birthday Lauren 🥳My fave bird is a flamingo! Or a pigeon, or a cassowary (I used to have this flamingo picture with neat facts overload over it) They can drink boiling salt water and stand in same indefinitely! They HAVE to have their head upside down to eat, a flamboyance is a group of them!

I wondered about this when one of my friends posted about how her radiation reading was higher from flying in an airplane than visiting Chernobyl. Will add proper alt text when I am back from sleeping sorry >.<

because even if its hilarious it promotes the idea that snakes are disgusting, dangerous or scary. Many people kill every snake they see, because of this idea. We want people to unlearn this idea. Almost every snake you see is harmless. The negative stereotypes of snakes are based in a culture of ignorance and superstition. We like snakes here, we hope everyone will learn to like them. Every respirator is a good option if you get a good fit on it, and what's a good fitting mask for you is not going to be a good fitting mask for other people, etc! A formal fit test costs a bunch of money, but you can approximate it at home with a perfume atomizer, some Sweet and Low--

--and a garbage bag: dump a bunch of Sweet and Low in water in the perfume atomizer, shake it up, put garbage bag loosely over your head without wearing mask, spray atomizer, verify you can taste it just by breathing. (If not, add more S&L to the water until you can.)

But rather than go gently into that creepy night, I've decided to start a petition to protest the fundamental conditions of existence. I know it's not much, but it's a start. I enforce federal worker health and safety and pollution regulations.

When I was learning my trade, when my classmates and I were having a chuckle over the "well duh" level of specificity written into the Code of Federal Regulations (try "no hazardous material shall be stored in crew berthing" on for size),I will never forget the silence that followed when our instructor spoke these words:

"Your regulations are written in blood."

These regulations were not written on a whim. They were written because someone thought they could cut costs by storing however many more pounds of a radioactive, toxic, carcinogenic, or whatever else material in the same rooms where the human beings they paid to transport those materials slept, and then did that. because no one was telling them not to.

They were written because people died. Horrifically. Because unregulated capitalism values profit over human life and suffering.

Can I say it again for those not paying attention?
