My high school history teacher in the early 80s shut down questions on the reality of the Holocaust with this. He told the questioners the documentation was extensive and detailed. Saw one of the students he shut down do the same to someone else recently on FB. Good to see education work.

Nixon and Biden didn’t win as sitting VPs. Even added in them in as eventual winners, it’s 50/50. The problem as a sitting VP is you can’t be independent of your administration. If you oppose a current policy you can’t say that without being disloyal, a huge negative. It’s a no-win.

Aside from his repulsiveness, there couldn’t be a worse office to win the presidency from. Before Bush Sr.’s win, the previous sitting VP to win was Van Buren in 1836. All other VPs to POTUS were successions, and most of those didn’t get re-elected.

Talarico has a straightforward job on this: speak to the Black community through churches and community events. Ask the community to allow him to speak. Talk to them about their concerns and speak to those concerns. Crockett may be showboating some, but if he‘s not doing the above she‘s also right.

I like her but agree with you on this, and your example is a good one. However, the quote tweet is a better example of why sitting Vice Presidents shouldn’t run. Answering that question either sabotages the current Presidency or admits “I screwed up.” It’s “have you quit beating your wife yet?”

I have read a considerable amount about the Finnish education system in past. Two things not in the article: 1. Teachers have earnings and respect on par with other professionals like doctors and lawyers 2. American educational research figures large in what they do. IOW: they respect expertise

Another Oregonian who agrees and buys from local farms then freezes what can be eaten quickly. This the same as red delicious apples. I’ve had heirloom RD here, and they look nothing like what stores have. Much smaller and more flavorful. There are better apples now, but they were good once.

CA population is larger than every other state. Completely amazing they get it done as fast as they do, especially since unlike TX (next in size) they actually encourage all voters to participate.

He thought it was criminal that neither Reagan or Bush were impeached for Iran/Contra, and that was the end of being a party member. He's been an independent since, but has consistently voted for Democrats as the Republicans have decided more and more that corruption is their default mode. 2/2

#BirdOfTheDay Alt #Blue An F4U Corsair flying by … dang it, animal birds! Ok, this lazuli bunting was hiding out on Powell Butte, Portland Oregon.

US Navy F4U Corsair in dark blue in flight. It is moving to the left and rolled to its left against a backdrop of medium grey clouds and its top side is fully illuminated by the sun.

A lazuli bunting perched on a tree branch among leaves and other branches, looking slightly to its left, fully exposing its right eye.

People I know are looking for jobs, and getting AI interviews for the first time. It sucks that this practice exists, but it will continue unless it doesn't work. At the least, can you be upfront that AI is used by your HR, and tell the candidate it will be an AI interview in the calendar item?

This is an example of what I mean when I say that due process is for the victim also. Framing the guilty denied O. J. due process and resulted in his acquittal, and simultaneously denied her and Ron Goldman their justice.

And yet: Vance It’s extremely rare for a sitting VP to win a general. Most VPs who become president do it after they take office because the President died, or have a break between VP and winning. Last sitting VP to win: GHWB. Last one before him: Van Buren. Only one to serve 2 terms: Jefferson.

It’s even better if you stick to the coast as much as possible. My wife always said she hated CA. I grew up there. She took a trip down 5 with my daughter to LA, and I convinced them to come back on the coast. They were stunned by the communities and beauty. She no longer hates CA.

The only McDonalds restaurants in the world that still make them that way are the ones in Hawaii. The owners there refused to give them up, and worked with the company that made them to continue production. Also they alternate between haupia and taro as spec flavors, so good!

I sometimes wonder if there’s a level of political loss in the upcoming midterms that would get Republican Senators to consider another option other than “do what Trump says” 50% of the House for Dems seems a likely outcome. What would be a shocker? 60%? 70%? same for the Senate, 12 seats? 14?

The tax money the state sends to the fed is state employees’ tax money. That’s the payroll tax they could withhold. It would likely result in the state employees feeling the pain rather than accomplishing anything useful. I would like pushback on this crap, but this doesn’t seem well thought out

There‘s graphic novel made of the teleplay. It’s radically different and a great story and art. I liked the original but understand why Ellison was angry. Among many other things, Yeoman Rand kicks some butt, and there actually is a city on the edge of forever. Worth a read if you can find it.

A picture of the book “Harlan Ellison’s City on the Edge of Forever: The Original Teleplay” it shows a dark picture of the Enterprise with its saucer section in the center of a clock. There is an eye in the center of the saucer with a man beaming down from the eye.
