Revitalizing some old sprite artwork and doing some physics tests for a super serious upcoming game. A game, about grilling.

Working on a *rough prototype* in iOS sim right now to have quick access to change device colors and add stickers. Still some bugs and polish to do but it's coming together!

been heads down w/ @atippins.bsky.social on our biggest COPY update yet 🎉 we’ve added your top requests plus surprises, and we’re trying COPY Club, our first subscription experiment. A link to try it on iOS drops later this week. #buildinpublic #iOS #indiedev #design

I’ve always loved Arc’s membership cards and all the funny little titles on Poolsuite's business cards. We’re building Copy Club for COPY, a walkie talkie made for friends. I wanted joining to feel special, so I built a little card studio in Codex to make and customize ours.

OK WAT this is sofa king cool. In our skin complier, we'll have an auto-mapping capability so any skin can tell the stickers what to do based on where they stick. Let’s us do freeform sticker placement. Stickers are coming soon as part of our (optional) COPY Club sub #BuildInPublic #IndieApp #iOS

I've made a little menu bar app that lets you box. Replaces your cursor with a boxing glove, and has a little jab animation. You can place a punching bag on the desktop as well. Thinking about adding a second so you can do some crosses next. #buildinpublic

Every Copy walkie talkie reacts when you record or play a message. Ghostline turns that shared behavior into a sci-fi receiver-style waterfall. It builds as you talk, then fills from left to right during playback. Ghostline is coming in the next release of Copy. #buildinpublic #skeumorphism

Copy is an async walkie-talkie app @mattmoss.me and I are building. Every device has the same four jobs underneath: decoration, channel plate, channel selector, push-to-talk. The designer decides how those parts look and feel. Copy handles product behavior underneath. #buildinpublic #designsystems
Side-by-side diagram of two Copy walkie-talkie skins. WT-01 on the left looks like a silver physical radio with a speaker grille, LCD, rotary dial, and large push-to-talk button. Interlinked on the right is a black-and-red sci-fi display with a frequency readout, message panel, rangefinder channel selector, and TRANSMIT button. Callouts show the four shared regions in both designs: decorations, channel plate, channel selector, and push-to-talk.

Working on an import pipeline for Copy, our walkie-talkie app. It makes it easier for me and @mattmoss.me (and soon other creators) to submit skins. First test: an HTML version I built in Claude Design. As I learn what makes importing hard, I revise the pipeline. Figma is next. #buildinpublic

I wanted to design each device in Copy once. One base design. Light mode, dark mode, and every color should come from it instead of becoming another version to maintain. A Braun radio doesn’t change colors at night. You’re just using it in a darker room. #buildinpublic #productdesign

We spent a lot of time making COPY private by design. Voice messages are encrypted on your device before they ever touch our servers. We can deliver them, but we can’t listen to them. #BuildInPublic #IndieApp #software #design #iOS

We need 12 testers for 14 days to launch COPY on Google Play. 1. Join the group. Invited friends need to join too: groups.google.com/g/copy-andro... 2. Opt in, install, and send messages! play.google.com/apps/testing... Skins are free for testers (shouldn't charge you). #BuildInPublic #IndieApp

Someone I've never met bought a skin in Copy, the walkie talkie app I'm building with @mattmoss.me. Extremely motivating when someone you don't know buys something you put a lot into.

I built typepairs.com because I love typography. Launched it, then let it sit. Built a tool to decode my Google Analytics, and turns out 270 people have used typepairs so far, copying pairings into their work. So pumped about this. People using typepairs, and the analytics tool that surfaced it.

I've been having a ton of fun building Copy with @mattmoss.me . An async walkie talkie. Twelve channels. Hold down and talk. Let go and it's sent. No accounts. Static on empty channels. Skin it, make it yours. 🧵

Designing dashboard card states for property managers. Quickly scan compliance metrics to identify issues. I had trend arrows on each, but felt they added visual clutter. The +/- already shows direction, so I removed them. Plus smooooth gradients
Three portfolio compliance dashboard cards showing health states: green card with 8.7 score (healthy), yellow card with 4.9 score (warning), and red card with 3.5 score (critical). Each displays a semicircular gauge and three metrics: average emergency response time, average property turn time, and tenant satisfaction, with trend indicators showing changes versus last month.

Testing a pattern for agentic dashboards. instead of chat, surface optimizations that trigger focused agents. Property operators don't want to chat about their portfolio. They want 'Phoenix maintenance costs up 15%, want me to fix it?' Curious what patterns you've been trying?

Testing a game as text before committing to 2D/3D, updating my site, AND building GitHub + Linear MCP for mkr.cards. This is either: a) parallel-track building b) procrastination c) how everyone works. Choosing (a) but it's probably (c). 10/10 would do again. #buildinpublic

AI coding tools can't see where you're going without context. Show them the map: □ → □ → □ → □ Not just "add user accounts" They need to see how everything connects. Think spatially. Build systematically. #BuildInPublic #AItools #ProductDesign #aifordesigners

The gap between "messy design thinking" and "structured AI prompts" has always bugged me. So I built something: map your flow visually, AI processes the spatial context, generates specs for your favorite AI builder. Sticky notes → working app. Demo: www.loom.com/share/3e7cfb... #buildinpublic

Recreated a Braun TP1 record player in Figma (minus the strap and a few details... vector coming soon). Built open and closed states, dropped in Trompe Le Monde by the Pixies, and wired it up in Lovable with the Spotify SDK. Flip the switch, it plays. (warning: kinda loud)

Using AI still feels like guessing commands in old text-based games. I wrote about how AI interfaces might evolve, from chatboxes to spatial canvases, ambient systems, and adaptive docs. Give it a read and curious what you are building in this space: atippins.substack.com/p/beyond-tex...
