🧵4/4 .. has gone 1.98m or better and has won the head-to-head. Only twice have they both jump 1.98m or better and Eleanor finished ahead on both occasions, and both those contests were in Budapest🇭🇺

Australia🇦🇺 has been fortunate to have two of the best high jumpers in the world, competing alongside each other at the major competitions over the last eight years. Perhaps not surprising they've achieved another world first with their recent wins, both clearing 2.02m.

This year, they have both broken the National Records either side of the 3000m, with Myers 1500m in 3:28.00 and Robinson 5000m 12:50.82 Using conversion ratios based on the average for those athletes that have run sub 3:30+7:30+13:00 we find they are not separated by much at 3000m

7/7 .. 3 times (10.76) on 20th July, then Marjorie Jackson break the women's 3 times over 21/22 July (11.65) So this stands to be corrected, but it looks like this is the first time both 100 metres records were broken (not just equalled) on the same day. It was a special day.

🧵5/? On 27 Oct 1973 in Sydney, Denise Robertson set a new record of 11.0 (h) and Graham Haskell equalled the mens 10.1 (h) The early adoption of 100 metres (instead of yards) in the Olympics meant you see some close overlap of record breaking given it was infrequently run.

🧵4/? .. Only Lagat🇰🇪 has raced in four in the same year (2005). Yared Nuguse🇺🇸 now joins him having run the four track Mile Majors in 2026. If he runs World Ultimate then he won't get all five, given the 5th Avenue mile🇺🇸 is on at the same time. Nuguse has finished 2nd in all 4 Majors this year.

Cameron Myers' has gone #12 in 1500m & #9 in mile World All-time with two performances over just 6 days, including continental travel in-between. Again, there are some elite names when you do the historical comparison. Only Jakob Ingebrigtsen🇳🇴 has done similar with an Atlantic crossing included.
