I grew up in Chattanooga but before the Titans. I do remember excitement for the Titans in Knoxville their 1st season ('99), but it was a novelty. I don't think Memphis ever took to them b/c they resented Nashville getting the team and having to babysit them for 2 years while the stadium was built

As for the stadium, I'd have been happy to spend the money on something else and lose them, but the people who run this town and want it to be a Beta Global City or whatever want to host Super Bowls and Final Fours and suchlike, and they weren't going to do that in the '99 stadium

The average Preds fan might be more dedicated, but when the Titans are even half-decent, all of Middle Tennessee is plugged in. I was here for most of the McNair/George era and saw the impact of getting an immediate contender on developing a fanbase

This isn't true, but I'm burdened with actually having lived in Nashville for 25 years and not Roane County or whatever (I also know what the term "Deep South" means)

Another exhibit for my case that every team should justbuse the uniform they had when I was 8

I recently made fun of David Ellison for going to Pepperdine while having a parent who could pay to get them in anywhere and was told, in rebuttal, "it's in Malibu." But I'm mature and will not be tagging that person to make sure they see this. (I've been to Malibu. I had a good time at the beach)

This is awfully risky given the LA Sports Arena was demolished

As opposed to running on corruption and excess and protecting people from brutality, things they will have the power to address and redress in the next 6 years

Dem leadership is stuck in 1992, and while I'm hopeful that Covid-era inflation rage will eventually wash out, they are playing with fire if the only thing they run on are kitchen table issues w/o a meaningful way to address prices

Mostly agree, but I was surprised the voters on that NYT poll missed this memo

I appreciate this sentiment. I've been frustrated the past couple weeks with how inept Tennessee's passing game is, but the fellas just beat an ancient rival by 10 by running the ball at will. It should feel good, and does

Holy shit. I really like the original story but missed (most) of this because of what's on Unlimited, and this is awful. It's (a) not remotely reflected in the original story, and (b) would make the original story significantly less effective if I didn't immediately erase it from my head canon

Yeah, should be Gibson. I felt light on 21st century guys and it could have been Scherzer or Verlander. Not Kershaw though

The complaint is not so much that inflation is historic but that no one ever fixed early 20s inflation. Whether anyone can communicate past that complaint is a another story

000 0

When it is augmented by continuing inflation in staple commodities, including striking amounts in the one that is visible.on a daily basis even when not being purchased (fuel), that misperception is going to be reinforced

100 1

Which may not be entirely rational, but is also not obviously a divorce from reality so much as denial that has yet to wash out of public perception

100 1

poster @atenyousee.bsky.social · 16/09/2026

There is almost certainly an element here in which the public has refused to price in the unprecedented (for most of them) early 20s inflation as their "new normal" such that a relative decrease in the rate of inflation isnt treated as an easing of the phenomenon
