Say more -- is it just the heft of the thing that made you want the 14"? Do you end up hauling it around a lot?

Totally justified for air travel, where you can't even fit a 14" laptop comfortably anywhere

The concept behind the newer VR headsets to give you a computer screen, or a movie theater or whatever, is pretty neat. But yeah the tech has to evolve a long way before I'll actually put it on my face

Call me crazy but I just don't want a 14-inch laptop? The industry seems to view that as the standard. Could be my aging eyes but I'll take the extra two pounds to have 16 inches of 4k OLED bliss

Before you think I'm a hero, I should come clean. The document is actually just fodder for AI to help me come up with interview guidelines for AI managers at $DAYJOB 🙈

Petition to create a licensing process, like driving, that demonstrates you know what good development means before you can use AI tools for it

I just pumped out several pages of outrageously good prose (fittingly, about various management challenges in AI product development), without using AI to write it. Please clap for this dying art. Also it felt really awesome to be a human.

Black and white line art meme featuring a simplified character reaching through an opening labeled "MEMES" and using a handsaw to cut out a section of the ceiling above them. Text on the left reads, "THANKS, THIS JOKE IS MINE NOW" in bold, white, capital letters.

I understand the reactions to this. But maybe there's a bright side: this feature allows us to put structure to practices that were already happening. It could be this makes it easier to parse messy spreadsheets, not harder

From the Google preorders page it looks like both x86 and ARM architectures are an option. So maybe the difficulties aren't insurmountable, it just depends on which IDE you prefer and also your pain tolerance

As an inveterate Android user, I'm intrigued by the concept of the Googlebook, especially the emphasis on good hardware and UX. Google indicates built-in Debian. The obvious question: how many problems will we see with installing and using R? #RStats www.theverge.com/tech/997972/...

Today I crossed the 1000 mile mark on my commuter ebike. That displaces about 32 gallons of gas I would have used in my car, and at current fuel prices, saves me approximately $94,000

Good perspective! Fwiw when I was a regular at the conf I would live-tweet a talk from my laptop to amplify the message. But I can see how that could be a distraction 🙈

About 85% of analytics delivery problems I've seen in my career come down to a handful of things 1. people say words without knowing what they mean 2. nobody asked why they need the thing 3. the team or org isn't organized for success 4. the incentives are wrong Thanks for coming to my TED talk

At $DAYJOB we have a tradition where everyone panics when a #python version hits EOL each October. The shared servers block installation of the verboten snakes. Does your company do this? How do you handle reproducibility of old projects, or do you just YOLO since 4-year-old work rarely resurfaces?
