Of course they'll have plenty of opportunities to invite the Moon to the show. Bonus: the meeting is to take place near constellation Leo. It seems Mars & Jupiter will be ~4.3° apart at their closest, around March 31./Apr.1.

🔭 🧪 #EduSky Already looking forward to the Mars-Jupiter conjunction in 2027. Jupiter will be at opposition ~ Feb.12, Mars ~ March 22. Which means they both will be very easy to observe all night long in spring 2027. Here on Jan.24:

Eclipse Sunglasses wrapped in transparent enveloppe. 
Cardboard box with one side missing, a pinhole at one end and the Sun’s image at the other, on a white screen. 2 small mirrors covered with paper . Each paper has a hole about 1-2cm wide. Round bright spot on a white wall. The spot is the reflexion of the Sun through one of the mirrors.

Voici ce que ça donne ce soir.
Une main tenant un petit miroir rose recouvert d’un papier blanc, dans lequel un trou losange à été découpé.
Projection par le miroir de l’image du Soleil sur un mur blanc. La tache lumineuse est circulaire, bien que le trou du papier soit losange.

Si vous ne trouvez pas de lunettes, une astuce que je préfère encore à l'écumoire-sténopé : un petit miroir portatif, recouvert d'un papier découpé d'un trou de 2-4cm : on projette l'image du Soleil dans un coin sombre à quelques mètres ; on voit un superbe croissant solaire. Déjà testé. 🔭 #eclipse
Deux petits miroirs recouverts avec du papier : miroir rose avec papier blanc, miroir carré plus grand avec papier noir. Les deux papiers ont un trou (losange pour l'un, rond pour l'autre).

🔭 For #SundialSunday, this vertical #sundial on Hôtel de la Bertaudière, where privateer Surcouf has lived. Saint-Malo, France. My calculated true solar time is 12:53 for this photo: not bad! This sundial is declining slightly south-east.

With the horizon curve you can set the date and local time, and use it as a rotating sky map, to find the rising and setting times for the Sun and stars, time of meridian crossing of stars, and highest elevation. 3/4

The hour lines are computed for latitude 42°N (Rome), but if you tilt the sundial you can make it work for higher latitudes. A list of cities with their latitudes is provided. A small graduated arrow helps find the correct angle. 4/6

Used separately, these sundials have to be oriented along north-south, but this one is self-oriented: rotate it until the shadows of both edges tell the same time. This is only possible because the 2 edges have different directions. The sundial then also indicates *true* north. 3/6

The octagon is a horizontal sundial, working with the shadow of the tilted edge of the triangle. The oval is an analemmatic sundial, working with the upright edge of the triangle. The user needs to set the date by sliding the octagon until its edge reaches the current date on the calendar. 2/5

2/3 If you compute the right ascension difference between a star and the Sun for a given date, you can guess the time of meridian crossing of this star. My script is adapted from Ronnie Bathoorn (github.com/bathoorn/sta...) This map comes in 2 styles: 'deepblue' or 'vintage'.
