Kevin Earp @astrokev.bsky.social · 12hCouple of quick phone shots of the aurora display at Kelling Star Camp last night 1282
Kevin Earp @astrokev.bsky.social · 06/10/2026Can only speak for myself, but - multiple video data capture. Stack each video. Sharpen each stacked image. Add them together and derotate in winjupos. Final tweaking in image processor- astrosurface usually 010
Kevin Earp @astrokev.bsky.social · 06/10/2026We could make a 3D image 😃! Really good to back imaging it again; its been a while 120
Kevin Earp @astrokev.bsky.social · 06/10/2026Another Saturn image from Saturday 3rd Oct. Tried Registax to sharpen, which is not my usual workflow. A little more banding on the disk is visible, which is either due to more careful processing, better data, or just luck! Either way, good fun playing with this data set 🔭 3351
Kevin Earp @astrokev.bsky.social · 04/10/2026Would be nice to think so, but i suspect its more likely processing noise 100
Kevin Earp @astrokev.bsky.social · 04/10/2026First go at processing last night's Saturn data. 8 x 3min videos, stacked in Autostakkert, derotated in Winjupos and processed in Astrosurface. 🔭 1589
Kevin Earp @astrokev.bsky.social · 04/10/2026Finally got back on Saturn last night. Took ages to remember and work out how to set-up the myriad of barlow adapters. I must improve my crib-notes! This is a quick phone video of the PC screen during a video capture. Loads of data to play with today 😊. Seeing was pretty good. 🔭 0333
Kevin Earp @astrokev.bsky.social · 26/09/2026I managed to resolve a problem I had with Graxpert. Seems my PC is too old to handle hardware acceleration! So here are very slowly processed close-ups of NGC7331, with and without Graxpert denoising. Small but noticeable improvement with denoising I think 🔭 0110
Kevin Earp @astrokev.bsky.social · 25/09/2026NGC 7331 and its latest supernova. My first deep sky image for a long, long time. Taken with my Celestron Edge 8 and ASI2600 mono camera. Luminance data only. Cloud stopped play before I could get any RGB. 🔭 0190
Kevin Earp @astrokev.bsky.social · 22/09/2026Indeed. Got it sorted though. After a bit of trial and error! 140
Kevin Earp @astrokev.bsky.social · 22/09/2026Finally got a chance to do some night imaging last night, only to find I've got these stars. Not good 😬 So spent the first 30 mins trying to collimate the scope, which i love 🙃 🔭 1110
Kevin Earp @astrokev.bsky.social · 20/09/2026Thanks for the nice comments. You need the right kit obviously, but not sure any special talent is needed, just a bit of passion 🙂 010
Kevin Earp @astrokev.bsky.social · 18/09/2026A few images from a quick solar session this morning, before the clouds rolled in. Taken with my 100mm Esprit refractor and Quark chromosphere. Processed in AS4, Imppg and Affinity Photo 🔭 0314
Kevin Earp @astrokev.bsky.social · 11/09/2026Rework of yesterday's sun-fun with inverted processing 🔭 0172
Kevin Earp @astrokev.bsky.social · 11/09/2026Excellent work. Egress can be tricky but you found and captured it really well 👏 111
Kevin Earp @astrokev.bsky.social · 11/09/2026A few closer views from yesterday. I find h-alpha imaging needs a really clear sky. High wispy cloud tends to kill contrast. It was late morning by the time the clouds cleared and seeing was a bit wobbly. 0150
Kevin Earp @astrokev.bsky.social · 10/09/2026First solar image for over 5 months. Struggled a bit with the kit and somehow managed to lose some data. 11 panel mosaic, processed in Affinity v3, which was also a bit of a struggle as I hadn't used it for solar before today. Overall though, pleased with the final result 🔭 0222
Kevin Earp @astrokev.bsky.social · 10/09/2026First solar imaging in months. Its like learning to walk all over again 😬 Firecapture screenshot.... 🔭 1150
Kevin Earp @astrokev.bsky.social · 09/09/2026After months of zero astro-action, I managed to find a bit of my astro-mojo, so decided to open-up the obsy and give it a good hoover-out and clean 😬. 3130
Kevin Earp @astrokev.bsky.social · 07/09/2026Excellent. Congratulations Chris. Maybe the Sunflower galaxy would've clinched 1st? 😉 110
Kevin Earp @astrokev.bsky.social · 13/08/2026Oh no! I hope you can smile about it now!. The irony is that Sunday-Tuesday were beautiful all day until sunset. Very warm with clear blue skies. Woke up on Wednesday to cloud and scattered showers. Oh well! 010
Kevin Earp @astrokev.bsky.social · 13/08/2026Ah in the Westfjords! That's for hardcover eclipse chasers! Shame we missed out. Seeing it go dark in the mountains was still great though! 120
Kevin Earp @astrokev.bsky.social · 13/08/2026Haha. Yeah, been lying low. Lost my astro mojo a while back. Maybe the eclipse has kick-started me! We will see 🙂 010
Kevin Earp @astrokev.bsky.social · 13/08/2026Total Eclipse from cloudy Iceland! We dipped out on seeing the sun itself, but not even clouds could spoil the amazing changes in light. Mid totality at Arnastapi on the Snaefellsnes peninsula, with an amazing mountain backdrop. Still a wonderful experience 🌘🌚🌒 3241
Kevin Earp @astrokev.bsky.social · 27/07/2026Haha. Thanks. Ive lost my astro mojo of late. Im hoping Saturn's improving visibility will be motivational! 010
Kevin Earp @astrokev.bsky.social · 03/07/2026Hi Catherine and thanks for the kind words. Sure, I'd love to help in any way you think i can. What do you need? 120
Kevin Earp @astrokev.bsky.social · 22/05/2026My PC is out of action at present so I can't process new images. So, in anticipation of this year's total solar eclipse, here are a small collection of some of my eclipse pics from the last few years. Praying for clear skies 🤞🏻🙏 🔭 0192
Kevin Earp @astrokev.bsky.social · 14/05/2026Yes, fascinating series of rilles and lava channels! 010
Kevin Earp @astrokev.bsky.social · 14/05/2026One of my favourite crater chains on the Moon - Theophilus, Cyrillus and Catharina, all spectacular formations of around 100km diameter, located on the western shores of the Sea of Nectar. Taken with a C11 on 23rd April 🔭 0245
Kevin Earp @astrokev.bsky.social · 14/05/2026Close-up view of Posidonius, a spectacular crater, 95km across, on the edge of the Sea of Serenity. C11 with a Baader barlow working at x1.58 🔭 1317
Kevin Earp @astrokev.bsky.social · 14/05/20266 image mosaic of the lunar terminator on the 23rd April. One of the biggest mosaics I've done, at 35 Megapixels, and you may need to open the image to see it all. Seeing wasn't perfect but I'm pleased how it turned out. 🔭 0226
