Heyo, never shared one of these before but I did a vocal cover of Heavy Is The Crown by Linkin Park and actually had the courage to share it on YouTube, I know it isn't fantastic but it'd be cool if y'all gave me some input or whatever youtu.be/gxx5ffMQVA8

Picked this 31" tube up off the curb some time ago, recently I got some adapters to properly hook it up to a PC and watch older 4:3 TV shows on it, its awesome

Is it bad that I feel like I would thrive in that environment?

DAPs are cool, I got this cheapo Android one new in box off eBay, got all sorts of stuff downloaded from spotify on it, as well as all my whole CD collection since I ripped them all a while back

I have a hard time believing YOU only opened four cases but I mean a w is a w

The reason I say it both is and isn't a sleeper is it's a PC that came with an i3-6100 and no gpu and has stickers all over it saying that's what it has but it's now got an i7-6700k and an RX 6650 XT so it's like a gaming PC now but I didn't replace the mobo so not really a sleeper in my eyes

000

Violet Astra @astralviolet1.bsky.social · 20/07/2025

I love this setup cause like it's the most basic older PC tower but like it's new enough that nobody would think that it would be a sleeper either (which I mean it both is and isn't I guess) and a gaming monitor that could easily pass as a basic office display it's like is this gaming or not?

Finally got a temporary place for me and my girlfriend's music stuff so we can actually use it, I'm so happy, even if we do have to run the soundboard out of her drum amp for now at least we have it set up

Violet Astra @astralviolet1.bsky.social · 18/07/2025

Of course, I'm actually planning on making a relatively lengthy unboxing/first impressions video assuming I still have the motivation to once it arrives next week

I just got the shipping notification for my bigscreen beyond 2 (I was a surprise upgrade order, I ordered in january) and I think my excited screams were heard in the next town over, I'm so hyped

Well looks like my top artists this week are Wild Party, Jhariah, femtanyl, Friday Pilots Club, and Pierce The Veil. I love that I can just check that btw lmao

I should say that the songs that helped me most were Yoshi's Island and Bedroom Community, though there were other songs on the album that I feel kind of helped me in other ways maybe I'll touch on that later though I'm just very aaaaa this morning and wanted to post something about my life

000

Violet Astra @astralviolet1.bsky.social · 16/07/2025

I don't think I've touched much on the importance of music to me, I've had music help me through much of my life, too much to put in one post, so I'll just touch on one for now: The First Glass Beach Album, which has ended up being my life's soundtrack early in my trans journey

I got a new case along with a couple other things for my main PC cause I was tired of the boring old black box thing

I'm well aware a 2080 is overkill for this I just had a spare one soooo

This is the computer I play osu! on lol

100

Violet Astra @astralviolet1.bsky.social · 03/07/2025

Can't explain why but osu! on a CRT monitor is an entire vibe

Violet Astra @astralviolet1.bsky.social · 24/06/2025

Sleeper PC update: I replaced the GPU with one of the same performance but much lower power draw (RX 9060 XT 16GB) and downgraded the PSU to a 650w, I'm also using it as my desktop gaming PC now because my actual main PC genuinely brings up the temp in my room an obscene amount

000

Violet Astra @astralviolet1.bsky.social · 23/06/2025

I did end up ordering a new (used) touchbar pro because of this for around 300 bucks (it's a 16" so no butterfly keyboard)

Violet Astra @astralviolet1.bsky.social · 23/06/2025

Man I thought staingate on the retina MacBook Pros was bad but last night the whole ass polarizing film on mine started peeling off like one of those cheap plastic screen protectors... It didn't stick back down either so it's just held on with packing tape for now

It's got a Ryzen 5 7600, a Radeon RX 6800 and 32GB of ram if anyone is curious

Violet Astra @astralviolet1.bsky.social · 25/05/2025

Decided to build a bit of a sleeper PC, I had previously built one in the case for the funny CS_Office PC but it didn't have enough space for what I wanted to do, so introducing: the fastest Optiplex 790 that I've ever seen

Please never be too afraid to tell your friends you love them. Platonic love is too often shunned or declared as weird but it's just as important, if not more, than romantic love. So tell your friends you love them, they might just needed to hear that in a world as cruel and stressful as ours.

Update: someone on Reddit suggested reinstalling the drivers and checking the factory reset option and that seems to have worked, I got two and a half hours on VRChat last night and didn't have a single crash even when I went into a public instance with 40+ people in it

000

Violet Astra @astralviolet1.bsky.social · 06/05/2025

Has anyone else with a 9000 series AMD card had issues with driver timeouts in VR, I kept getting them usually in VRChat, I use a quest 3 with virtual desktop if that matters, it got so bad I ended up getting a used RX 6800 to use until I can find a solution but it's significantly slower

The word "wanker" said in an American accent is quite possibly the worst sounding word to ever exist ever.

Ugh people always assume that I can tank being sick because I'm young and healthy, but truth be told literally anything respiratory will have me bedridden for a week, so yeah, coworkers come into work sick, don't mask around me, and I get sick. A lot. and my boss wonders why my attendance is poor...

000

Violet Astra @astralviolet1.bsky.social · 29/03/2025

For context I bought this cause I'm sick and just didn't have a TV anymore cause I had decided I didn't need one (kinda dumb of me to forget I always end up using my tv when I'm sick) and had given my old one to my ex (before we broke up obvs, I haven't spoken to her since we did)

Violet Astra @astralviolet1.bsky.social · 29/03/2025

Y'know for $100 this "pioneer" (reportedly made by either Hisense or TCL) smart TV isn't bad at all, and while the xumo software isn't super straightforward, I prefer it to FireTV or Roku just because fuck those companies, yeah, I like this TV

I'm so excited, after going from shitbox to shitbox for the last few years I finally managed to get a decent car, bit high on the mileage (120k) but it's a 2018 and online they say these can easily get 200k and where I only put on about 10k in a year that's a good 8 years!

000

Violet Astra @astralviolet1.bsky.social · 24/03/2025

I actually have monitors that (mostly) match now, plus one of them is 280HZ which is the highest refresh rate I've ever had!

000

Violet Astra @astralviolet1.bsky.social · 23/03/2025

That always seemed dumb to me, my dad had to get this little thing that just took a Coax connector and converted it to an RCA jack and screwed it into the back of our TV to use his Atari 800XL (at least until he found a composite cable for it)
