You want a fight you know our naaaame WE ARE THE GORO PIIIIRAAAAATESSS these mark the 29th and 30th cards made for this deck. I might absolutely make a few more as needed but for now I think I'll focus on testing and refining what's already there.

020

AstralLight @astralstarl1ght.bsky.social · 25/03/2025

a couple other designs made in the last few days after a successful second test run! featuring the backup commander Lucy from victory heat rally and a giant mech my wife uses to punch things!

Hail to the Queen! It's not an astralkat deck without a persona 5 reference

010

AstralLight @astralstarl1ght.bsky.social · 18/03/2025

God this movie's so damn good. Another classic for me and my fianceé!

010

AstralLight @astralstarl1ght.bsky.social · 18/03/2025

Can't have Della Duck without her ill-fated spaceship! Expect not to see whoever gets hit by this for a few episodes.

020

AstralLight @astralstarl1ght.bsky.social · 18/03/2025

I had to fit at least one Community reference in there. These are here to get some more pilots out fast, get some card draw, and get some much needed chip damage after Astralkat's ability slugs each opponent for big damage.

010

AstralLight @astralstarl1ght.bsky.social · 18/03/2025

testing found that the deck wanted more pilots and buffs, so here we are!

020

AstralLight @astralstarl1ght.bsky.social · 17/03/2025

My fianceé's three favorite racetracks!

AstralLight @astralstarl1ght.bsky.social · 17/03/2025

Getting back to work on the Astralkat deck to battle the cabin fever of shitty weather I shall once again take my design philosophy from the flavor text of Weldfast engineer

020

AstralLight @astralstarl1ght.bsky.social · 11/03/2025

Completed split fiction with my fianceé yesterday holy shit that game is legendary. Extremely close to a 10/10 in my books, we had an absolute blast (almost) all the way through and it ends on the highest of high notes

120

AstralLight @astralstarl1ght.bsky.social · 07/03/2025

I think the next step for me before continuing to work on this deck is to make a vertical slice prototype of sorts. I have a couple cards, I can throw in some existing cards, I need to see how this deck theoretically functions and what its needs are before I continue with designs

Okay I was gonna do the lands and then inspiration struck and I just HAD to

010

AstralLight @astralstarl1ght.bsky.social · 04/03/2025

weekend was largely devoted to making balance changes to the cards so far (they were first drafts after all). Deck's gonna take some serious testing and refining I think. Anyways, gonna be working on a lil land cycle today of different racetracks to get the speed counter up and running early

We're Smokin' Sexy Style now! Okay tbh my fiancée hasn't really played DMC5 but she loves chainsaws and motorcycles and I love this thing too much to not put it in

AstralLight @astralstarl1ght.bsky.social · 25/02/2025

Food? Water? CLOTHING?!?! Who needs 'em when you've got racing like THIS! A tribute to the legendary announcer from sonic and sega all stars racing, who will likely show up as the flavor text on many cards! Again, any card without art is one I'll illustrate personally.

AstralLight @astralstarl1ght.bsky.social · 23/02/2025

when you need that lil extra boost to start the day (I'll take mine with two sugars and an espresso shot)

This deck is rapidly becoming my fianceé's racing smash ultimate and I am here for it! I know this is gonna take a long time and I'm already running into some things I might need to iron out but I hope this just shows her a fraction of my love, for the most wonderful partner I could ever ask for

010

AstralLight @astralstarl1ght.bsky.social · 19/02/2025

a few more cards, including one I plan on illustrating myself

111

AstralLight @astralstarl1ght.bsky.social · 17/02/2025

two more cards made for the deck! Nothing can stop Della Duck!

152

AstralLight @astralstarl1ght.bsky.social · 16/02/2025

And we are *cooking!* first draft of the commander is up and running!

010

AstralLight @astralstarl1ght.bsky.social · 15/02/2025

so with designing my fianceé's deck, the first question to me was of course the commander (ignore random card I made before then). It's gonna be real hard to make a card for my one true love that isn't crazy overpowered but I'll do my best!

110

AstralLight @astralstarl1ght.bsky.social · 14/02/2025

Our first new card for the Astralkat deck, featuring a character from one of our favorite movies, Baby Driver! I unfortunately found out that the actor who plays baby died recently, hopefully this can be a little tribute to him. Fuck kevin spacey though, thankfully he dies horribly in this movie.

AstralLight @astralstarl1ght.bsky.social · 14/02/2025

After finishing the astralkat racing deck, I'm probably going to get back to my custom persona 5 crossover deck (built around the villains of the game) and polish them some more

110

AstralLight @astralstarl1ght.bsky.social · 14/02/2025

I might be posting some cards from the astralkat racing deck in case anyone wants to play with them or something (though of course any that directly reference her name or names of people close to us will have that information redacted for safety)

AstralLight @astralstarl1ght.bsky.social · 14/02/2025

Making a custom commander deck with new cards based on my Fianceé for Valentines day! With the release of Aetherdrift, I can finally make her head of her own Mardu Vehicles deck with some exciting twists!

Today I want to talk about why art's so damn important (games are art). We all know learning and education is critical for society to function, but also that we're royally fucking it up and we're not truly fixing it anytime soon. It does not come CLOSE to preparing kids for the outside world.

There's something special about seeing characters you relate to in media, especially if you struggle with your own self-image. I'm a clumsy, absent-minded lass, hopeless romantic, and ADHD disaster. I felt like the recipe for a perpetual screwup.

120

AstralLight @astralstarl1ght.bsky.social · 08/01/2025

case in point, I messed up how to do a thread within that last post XD I'll leave the follow ups where they are, it's too fitting

It's always been hard to be proud of my past work, as all I can see in it is my past mistakes. Every time I learn something new, it feels like it's a game-changer that retroactively makes my past projects shit. And that made me worried to post here, because my shitty posts might be enshrined forever
