EXCITING NEWS! I just put all the parts of my book together. It's looking like it'll be about 215 pages! (40 pages of illustrations) I've NEVER made anything this large before and I am really proud of it. ❤ #amwriting #cyoa #solottrpg #ttrpg #astrafauna #indiegame #indiewriter #NOai

I have a wee baby youtube channel. I'm going towards the format of: small, slice of life plot in the 1st minute or so, then a hour of music to help you study, workout, work, and/or create. Mind giving me a follow and sharing this around, please? www.youtube.com/@astrafauna

One of my most popular, and personal, pieces. It's for my two best boys, one who let this world in march 2020, and one who came into this world in March 2020. #skull #skullart #greyhound #rebirth #memories #dog #missmydog #lovemypuppy #swamp #swampart #astrafauna

I started making "Study with me" playlists on my youtube channel. The art is all by me and the music is by people I buy the licenses from or they offer it free with a credit of their choice. They all have excerpts from my books or tiny bit of conversations between characters. youtu.be/aBsCYDsf-f4

The trials and tribulations of making simple animations in freeware. youtu.be/aBsCYDsf-f4?... I now know the full breath and depth of Capcut and DaVinci Resolve's limitations. I wanted to make super simple looping animations.

Started a replay of Days Gone. It's one of my most favorite games ever. The music on the home screen turned on and my anxiety immediately calmed - which is kinda odd considering it's a zombie game.

Hey folks, what are you doing for marketing/getting more eyes on your work nowadays?

Astra Fauna (Sarah Dahlinger) -> Rhode Island Comic Con is Next! @astrafauna.bsky.social · 04/10/2026

I listen to content like this on youtube ALL THE TIME. So I'm kinda making my own working playlists. Bonus! Going forward, I'm going to make art intentionally for this so the animations will be a little more high quality. Check out my labors here: youtu.be/aBsCYDsf-f4?... ❤️ #indie #astrafauna

If you want to make looping lo-fi movies for youtube for free - this is how you do it. And now that I know how, I'll be MUCH faster with it. My goal is to take all my older art, slice them up and make "Grade B or C animations" with them to get views/follows on YouTube. Gotta start somewhere

Astra Fauna (Sarah Dahlinger) -> Rhode Island Comic Con is Next! @astrafauna.bsky.social · 04/10/2026

So, that means the work flow is: -Cut up images in photoshop -Animation in DaVinci -Export animation -Import to capcut -Do text/story elements -Add music -Export to youtube. ...and that took me TWELEVE HOURS. #ThisTookFarTooLong #ButNowYouKnow #TheMoreYouKnow #DontBeLikeMe

All these make the story telling section in the start of the movie easier to make. DaVinci doesn't offer these, not really. They have simple transitions that you can add between media. But there is nothing like, "one click, make floating air particles". #MyBodyCraves floating particles

Astra Fauna (Sarah Dahlinger) -> Rhode Island Comic Con is Next! @astrafauna.bsky.social · 04/10/2026

Beside I learned what I needed to learn, so all good. BUT there's MORE! Capcut has these ultra convenient "canned animations/effects" like - "Type text onto screen" and "make subtle particles float in the air", or the "black and white film filter".

Astra Fauna (Sarah Dahlinger) -> Rhode Island Comic Con is Next! @astrafauna.bsky.social · 04/10/2026

I got up like 3 hours later because I was pissed off about it. Then I taught myself how to animate in DaVinci at 4 am and made this loop. It's a mid animation, but I really wanted to get something published, so I relegated it to the "good enough for views and follows pile" #MadAboutIt

I want my playlists to be 60 mins min to attract the study crowd. It took me all day to declare defeat, so I ate dinner and went to bed. #ILoveStudyPlaylists #ambient #lofi

Astra Fauna (Sarah Dahlinger) -> Rhode Island Comic Con is Next! @astrafauna.bsky.social · 04/10/2026

They're SO simple, I figured Capcut should be able to handle them - so I learned what I needed to learn, did the animation, and even got it looking okay-ish. BUT, to my dismay, Capcut pretty much can't handle key framed animations that are over 30 mins long. #LAMENT

Astra Fauna (Sarah Dahlinger) -> Rhode Island Comic Con is Next! @astrafauna.bsky.social · 04/10/2026

They're extremely common in the lo-fi playlist community and well within my wheel house. I think I know how to animate in five, now seven, programs, so I wasn't worried about the prospect. Narrator: She should have, in fact, been worried... #foreshadowing #LearningIsHard #ButImHarder 😏
