RSV symptoms are similar to a cold. But it can be serious because RSV can cause bronchiolitis in babies and young children and pneumonia in younger children and older adults. The RSV vaccine is the best way to protect yourself or your baby from catching RSV.

In 2023, Jodie and her family faced the unimaginable when her twins both caught RSV at just eight weeks old. Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is a common virus that spreads during the winter months and can cause bronchiolitis in babies, and pneumonia in babies and older adults.

Symptoms of lung conditions may include breathlessness, a cough that lasts a long time or goes away and comes back, wheezing and more. Having any of these symptoms does not mean you have a lung condition, but it’s important to speak to your GP or healthcare professional.

Study led by @qmul.bsky.social found that air quality improvements after the introduction of ULEZ are strongly associated with accelerated lung growth in children. Sarah Sleet, our CEO, said: “ULEZ can spark fierce political debate, but this study replaces the polarised opinions with hard evidence."

Sometimes it's the simple things that keep you safe in the hot weather. When it’s hot outside, make sure to drink enough fluids throughout the day. This will stop you from becoming dehydrated. Being dehydrated can make asthma and other lung condition symptoms worse.

With extreme heat weather warnings in parts of the UK this week, it’s important to store your medicines safely. Most medicines should be stored somewhere: - Dry - Cool (under 25°C) - Out of direct sunlight - Away from windowsills.

Our condition specific support groups are here for you. We have groups for COPD, Bronchiectasis and Long Covid. When asked if our support group attendees have learned something new about their condition, in the COPD and bronchiectasis group 100% said yes, and in our long covid group 95% agreed!
