i wrote an entire steam review for this game because i love it so much

A screenshot of a steam review.

"Recommended. 34.9 hours played at review time.

I restarted this game twice mid-playthrough because I went, "This game is awesome and I NEED to experience it for the first time with a couple friends." Genuinely one of the best games I'd ever played this year, and gave me the same kind of messy emotions as 1000xRESIST did (which is a game that I hold in equally high regard). The developers love this game so much and you can see it oozing out of every pixel in this game almost like an infection, and in a world where a lot of the mainstream media landscape is poisoned by cynicism and what shareholders think will be the most marketable story, is so refreshing. Even the game's politics and how it develops those story (heh,) beats is deeply refreshing in a way that I have seen increasingly few stories do.

As much as I would recommend this game to anyone who can listen, it's a little hard to, because of how much the game relies on flashy effects and screen shake (granted, the latter can be turned off, and is the main reason why I can play this game to begin with). Given how forgiving and disability-friendy the gameplay is, the same cannot be said for the visuals. I finished the main story last night and had to lie down to prevent a full-on migraine from developing, and I'm not even that photosensitive. The background where the credits roll is awful in the way it flashes with the hatching/dithering effect, and I had to tab away from it every time I finished a chapter. It's really such a shame, because you're preventing an entire subset of people from being able to experience such a wonderful and heartfelt story. If there was a way to implement some seetings that could reduce/remove some of these effects, it would be so good.

All of that is to say: I'm in love with this game, and I'm really excited for if/when D-Cell begin a new project. It's also fun as hell. If you like rhythm games: you need to play this goddamn game. Please. For me."

a screenshot mid-cutscene of birch, a young elezen woman with tanned skin, freckles, and long curly hair. she has bright lamp-like yellow eyes that are widened in surprise. her chubby cheeks make her look particularly cute and munchable.

doing npc edits has been awesome. lyse literally looks like an arab woman i'd meet irl

a screenshot of lyse from ffxiv with several edits: she has darker skin, body hair and scarring, brown eyes, and brown here with outgrown blonde highlights. she's also been scaled to look more muscular, with her face edited to have a wide and longer jaw and a hooked nose

i've got yrys! he's an old oc from way back when. he was a garlean prisoner that managed to escape during the calamity. he sought refuge with the scions and had been working with them ever since. i don't do much with him because i don't really know what to do with him... but i love him dearly
