Finally dyed my headset's shell yesterday! The colour did turn out a bit deeper than I wanted (that stuff takes FAST, holy shit) but I'm pretty happy with the end result. It looks pretty in sapphire blue!

I feel like if it was a scammer trying to collect info they'd go about it in a more subtle way? Idk I just don't feel like anyone would respond positively to being bombarded with very personal questions from a stranger like that. Super creepy behaviour either way, definitely insta block

The charging port of one of my trackers came off last night. I tried to put it back in place but failed and damaged the port itself in doing so. So this is how I fixed it ultimately. It's not stupid if it works, I guess?

Truth be told I remember I was having issues with errors when I tried using it, but that was a while back. Maybe they fixed it since then but I haven't tested. Personally as long as the original runs ok for me I have little incentive to update since it doesn't add features

yeah, there are some difficulties with it though as iirc the creator never released source code for displaycal. I think there were a couple attempts, mostly to modernize the program by making it run on python3 instead of 2. IIRC this is the one I tried github.com/eoyilmaz/dis...

Their calibration software is pretty bad anyway, any time I used it the screen always had heavy bias towards yellow. Been using displaycal too ever since and it gives a lot better results. I think some developers have also branched the project cause the original developer stopped working on it

My mocap glove broke even further and now I'll have to fall back to using leap motion again for slthe streams. Still though, of all the ways it could have broken this particular one really adds insult to injury.

On their website they say they also offer free vrchat age verification that will stay on your account afterwards aside from the option you mentioned (not sure why anyone would pick that one) But they also mention age verification should be completed by June 6th so might be too late now I think?

Today I found out that Steam will hide and prevent negative reviews from affecting the average when a game is being review bombed. This is on by default. I prefer seeing all reviews since bombing is often a sign the dev did something dumb. Luckily the setting can be changed. Here's how to do it.

When I have to run ads I usually pause the game and wait to mitigate that, but twitch themselves should handle it better. It's hard to do ads on live content the right way, but even just letting the viewer still hear the stream during ads would go a long way

Oh absolutely. Twitch is one of the only sites where I don't have AdBlock enabled because I wanna support the streamers I watch but the way they do ads is way too intrusive. The player becomes tiny and the audio gets muted on content that keeps going during the ad break, and you miss stuff.

And yes, I'm aware that ads that won't progress unless you actively look at them are nothing new, but usually they have been used on more dodgy websites than a mainstream streaming platform like Twitch. Aggressive techniques like these only further justify the use of ad blockers.
