I do computer stuff and I'm on a scavenger hunt to take photos of every US flag on the MBTA. Make things you care enough to make.

I'm glad Ed Markey is doing well and all (55 days left btw) but somehow this line in the coverage of his primary win is the most staggering thing I've read all week. The man was the first person to beat a Kennedy in a Massachusetts election, ever. commonwealthbeacon.org/news-analysi...
An article about the recent primary win of Ed Markey, with a sentence highlighted that claims he was the first person to ever beat a Kennedy in a Massachusetts election.

Technology advice: The backplate on the Sun™ 450 MHz UltraSPARC™-II Module interferes with the plastic airflow guide in the Ultra 2, but it can be removed and replaced with any copper heatsinks you have on hand that are less than ~3mm tall.
4 pennies stuck to the back of a vintage CPU module, over top of some integrated circuits. It isn't obvious how they are remaining in place.

Nearly there Assembly 👌 But I feel like there's at least one person avoiding the Revolution Drive entrance because the flag doesn't line up with the windows. #mbta

Y'ever hit a 26 year old panic? No disrespect to NetBSD, because I'm doing something really dumb right now, but it's hilarious to me that this computer was brought down by sending one ☝️ IPv6 packet
A piece of code written in C. It appears that this code was never intended to be run by the computer, as all it does it call the panic() function. The history of the file shows edits from 1998, 2000, and 2005.The output of a debugger after a computer has clearly crashed. The top message refers to an unimplemented function from ~1998.

I attempted to recreate the Mountain Dew Baja Blast™ pie at home, but I kind of think the teal might be a bit too saturated...?

Y'know after a couple years of looking like a crazy person trying to find the US flags the #MBTA has tucked away in dark corners and at the top of weird atriums, I feel like Revere Beach 🟦 is making this one too easy
A US flag in a plexiglass case near a door labelled "Exit to Ocean Ave". The photo was taken inside the Revere Beach stop on the MBTA blue line in Boston.

@actionretro.bsky.social Truly heinous photography alert, but since you brought up FrogFind today; you can add "Solaris 2.6 running on a SPARCstation 5" to the list. Unfortunately my friend's SPA wasn't feeling cooperative with the HTML parser in the only photo I took last November 🤣

Jagex is cancelling their 2025 pride event out of cowardice. I have a cancel button too! #osrs #pride

I don't know who was wondering if you can do a processor swap on late 90s Toshiba laptops, but it turns out, yes! You can! I'm holding the Pentium II this guy shipped with ✨(with its goofy MMC-1 cartridge form factor)

Thanks DC Metro, I've never had an emotional reaction to a transit pass before.

Of all the US flags behind plexiglass that I've found on the MBTA, this one at Harvard 🟥 is probably the best hidden. Are you even meant to see it there?

Airport Station, blue line. I approach 2024 still not understanding why the MBTA feels the need to put a protective case around the US flag.

The next time somebody in the webdev community gets angry at me for supporting Google Amp or Firefox's reader mode, I'm sending them this. Almost every recipe blog online is like this now.
A very cluttered website, where the entire content has been covered by ads, video players, and social media buttons.

I had a very fun night of trying to brute force an unsolved problem in mathematics, the Magic Square of Squares. I leaped into the code and got 4 hours into optimizing it... Before realizing my search space was in the nonillions, and there's some geometric proof that it's impossible. Ah well.
