Fun fact! Patas monkeys are extraordinary runners — capable of reaching speeds up to 55 km/h — an adaptation that helps them evade predators and travel long distances across open landscapes. 🏃‍♂️🐒

Studying the Blue Nile Patas is both an exciting scientific frontier and an urgent conservation priority. They are currently classified as Data Deficient due to limited information about their ecology and conservation needs.

Mifta’s work helps us better understand the vulnerable 🐒 Eastern Patas Monkey (Erythrocebus patas pyrrhonotus) and the recently recognized 🌍 Blue Nile Patas (Erythrocebus poliophaeus). Eastern Patas face habitat loss, agricultural expansion, and human–wildlife conflict across unprotected corridors.
