As it happens it has a very strong style, which doesn't show up in the anime adaptation at all. What's going on? Is it a trend? I'm suspecting modern animation tools make it decently cheap to produce an adaptation but push you in more standardised style? I don't really know.

But then, I hadn't recognised the style at all. The anime looks just completely generic (it's quite compelling though). Another anime I watched recently is Witch Hat Atelier. Here again a rather generic looking but compelling anime. Then I saw what the manga looked like.

I was walking in a book store today, and I saw a manga series has obviously been drawn by the same author as Full Metal Alchemist. The style was unmistakable. Getting closer I recognised the character: it's Daemons of the Shadow Realm. An anime I watched just a few weeks ago.

Memory lane moment. Do you remember these yoghurt pot figures from Marks and Spencer? I was quite fond of them as a kid. Their image stayed with me ever since. (screenshot from this video www.youtube.com/watch?v=I0cj... )

In his Haskell Implementors' Workshop talk, David Binder asked this question. And I must say that I'm a little dismayed, concerned even, that I immediately knew the answer. Link to the the talk: www.youtube.com/watch?v=qk_P...
What is the difference between:

- a module without an export list (`module A…`)
- a module with itself as an export list (`module A (module A)…`)

Ça me fait penser aux Vivo Barefoot.

Also, it seem to believe that “Mandelbrot effect” can refer to the Mandelbrot set. I've never hard that before. I assume it's just the system absolutely wanting to have something to say.
The overview section of Google's AI summary when googling "Mandelbrot effect". It reads

The term "Mandelbrot effect" most commonly refers to the Mandelbrot set, a fascinating mathematical object in complex dynamics, known for its intricate and infinitely complex patterns. It's often visualized as a fractal, a shape that exhibits self-similarity at different scales. The Mandelbrot set is generated by iterating a simple mathematical formula on points in the complex plane.

So, apparently, Gemini isn't very good at recognising puns.
A section of Google's AI summary when googling "Mandelbrot effect", referring to my tweet. It reads

Collective False Memory:
There's also a more recent and somewhat humorous use of the term "Mandelbrot effect" referring to a collective false memory where people misremember what the Mandelbrot set actually is. This likely stems from the set's fame and the way it's often discussed and depicted.

You know these glass jars with glass stoppers that use the friction of ground glass to provide a seal? They're really cool, I wish we'd use them more.

I got me some Nancy Drew book a few months back. The first four ones (out of a measly 613…). The edition I got has absolutely gorgeous covers (because a book is also an object). The attached picture is the cover of the collection's case. I did rather like them, it's fun.

Speaking of Emma Myers, Imdb, what—and I can't stress this enough—the hell‽ 4/13

The beauty of word2vec. I like playing Pedantix cemantix.certitudes.org/pedantix (colleagues showed it to me and I was hooked). It makes you guess a redacted Wikipedia page, using a word2vec embedding to estimate that you found a close enough word. Sometimes it yields hints like this.

I've watched two Nancy Drew movies. Nancy Drew (2007) www.imdb.com/title/tt0479500 , Nancy Drew and the hidden Staircase (2019) www.imdb.com/title/tt8323104 . The 2019 film tries to be much more modern but ends up being a bit weak.
