Announcing: CodeAct pattern and Hyperlight containers in Microsoft Agent Framework
Microsoft Agent Framework adds the CodeAct pattern in public preview, which lets agents collapse a multi-step plan into a single executable code block rather than chaining one tool call at a time. In representative workloads, CodeAct cut end-to-end latency by roughly 50 percent and token use by more than 60 percent compared with step-by-step orchestration.

Old rule of thumb: new tech must be 10x the status quo to catch on. Hyperlight: "How about 200x?" This revolutionizes anything needing: * hardware isolation (security), and * ultra-fast startup times (performance-sensitive / massively scalable, on-demand functions). Agentic AI workflows? What else?

Great little post on the @unikraft.com blog about using unikernels with the @cncf.io project #hyperlight: unikraft.org/blog/2026-06... like that boot-to-main()! (and that VM is < 1MB, so density.... which means cost down)

Hyperlight is such an interesting approach to the microVM because it's a library inside the app rather than a deployment decisions (and it's Rust)

Absolutely! We are about to ship an Arazzo-based workflow engine with an option to scale out the runners with Hyperlight. It's also interesting for a secure-by-default multi-tenant architecture we've been slowly boiling for the last couple of years.

If you've noticed the increased cost of tokens recently, we got your back. Faster and cheaper.
graphic illustrating that using the CodeAct pattern generally saves you about 65% of your token spend.

For those who are about difficult hardware #virtualization efficiency and dev experience (WTF????) you might find @dblnz.dev's blog post on #hyperlight and interactive debugging interesting. It's a blast for any micro-guest, including #webassembly. opensource.microsoft.com/blog/2025/07...

Running #Wasm components inside of a hypervisor and being able to tailor the exact interface between the hosted application and the trusted compute base enables platform builders unequaled ability to tune precisely the access provided to untrusted application code.
