I’m so pleased she let you know, although you could argue it was the Royal Navy salute. They salute like the Americans I believe it was so they didn’t show their dirty hands to the office they are saluting - which would have been a sign on disrespect.

I would have suggested using the iPad. Ideally the A4 version. Screen sharing will make it appear like a visualiser. Just be careful when you annotate ppts you don’t have automatic save on otherwise you may loose your original blank copy.

Where does it sit with a daughter who only got an 8 in GCSE maths but a 9 in further maths?!? What’s the expectation?

Also my new school has more lessons allocated to the pure teacher as you’d expect.

My last school did a mixture of pure/stats and mechanics so we were all skilled in all. We had some skills which had to follow others eg constant acceleration after integration etc… my new school splits pure from applied and you teach one or the other! A

I have 2 which I think would work. 1/ the magic calculator which leads nicely onto binary. If you let me know how to share a lesson you can have mine as a starting point? 2/ then us Matt Parker’s magic trick from numberphile as another one which leads nicely into tertiary!

Thank you for sharing, I’m new to A level teaching. I don’t suppose you have the answers so I can double check my work as I go through them? Cheeky I know. I like the sets questions so far but haven’t gone further yet.

Bicen maths and TLMaths have both done one I believe. I haven’t watched them yet. That’s this weekend’s job!

blog.drbennisonmaths.com. Did you try this site? I know it’s Christmas colouring and the questions may need a tweek to make it AS.

In an attempt to be helpful and respond quickly I made a mistake, my apologies.

Oh my mistake, when I heard core maths I assumed you meant AS/A level core maths. I apologise I didn’t realise there was a GCSE version. Sorry.

I’m with edexcel but my daughter took the AQA paper, she queried a question which I’m keen to see - is there anyway I can?

Bicen maths and TLmaths have wonderful videos if you want to know how to teach it. Owen on TES and drFrost both have great ppts for lessons. What will be your minimum GCSE requirement for students to take the course?

Love your site, thank you so much for your content.

Aspeaky @aspeaky.bsky.social · 28/04/2026
Is it an easy read or more heavy?
000
Aspeaky @aspeaky.bsky.social · 28/04/2026
How easy/difficult is it? What knowledge would you need to be able to read it?

Can you give us an insight?

I really like this, can i cheekily ask if you’re willing to share? Plus have you seen anything good which forces them to write the reasons down?

Help! Why does e matter? I know it is 2.71. I know; the e^x is same as its differential, that if the interest is equal to the number of times it occurs the compound interest converges to it, It’s the inverse of ln. I just don’t understand why it’s so important? Please help. #Alevelmaths

What is e? I know it is 2.71, I know it has the great property that e^x is the same when we differentiate it, I also know that if the percentage interest is equal to the number of times it occurs it is the number the compound interest converges too. I don’t understand why it matters? Please help!

How did you identify the list of topics and which did you prioritise? I’m sorry I misunderstood I thought you’d already created the starters and revision work and I was wondering which resources you’d used to do it.

Aspeaky @aspeaky.bsky.social · 27/03/2026

Thank you so much. Done all of the above so far. My real problem is that I find the current edexcel text book doesn’t seem to push the more able students-what do you use for them?

I’m starting at a new school, I’m new to A level do you have any others you’d recommend? Or any suggestions so I’m resourced and ready for sept?
