Apologies. Currently fighting significant lymphatic condition. May not say ‘thanks’ as much as I should ☹️. Hope to be riding roads & trails of Wensleydale again. Depleting my wine collection. 😍 hills, mountains, some stargazing & tending my flowerbed.

#Sunday dinner. Always dig out a decent wine from the depths of the ‘chais’. First of the Bouscassé & Montus I’ve stored for a few years. Brumont is a master in this harsh, tannic terroir. Young, entering its drinking window. Dark concentrated fruit (cherries & b’berry). Balance. #wine #Madiran

An empty bottle of exquisite Bannockburn 2015 Cab/Shiraz stands with its remaining contents in a decanter & glass.

Utterly dry, intense blackcurrant/minerals & fine leather. Long, satisfying finish

Short walk out of Askrigg. Beautiful day, but cold with a strong crystal clear northerly.
Looking across Wensleydale towards Addleborough hill.

Green, stone walled pasture with cows & sheep.

Beautiful shades of green & autumnal rust.Sheep feed on lush green pasture.

On the horizon stands Ellerkin Scar, reflecting bright sunshine.A steep downhill between trees. Old Barn ahead with the ancient Low Straits Lane visible in the background.

Whilst he dabbled in the pharmaceutical dark art of pro cycling, Michele Scarponi was immensely likeable. Self deprecating, very humorous & human. On 22 April 2017, his life was taken just 2 days after his stage victory in the Tour of the Alps by a dangerous driver. #cycling #rip #tourofthealps

Views from Askrigg today. You’re welcome! #Yorkshiredales #Wensleydale
Wensleydale viewed from high on Ellerkin Scar. Shadow in the foreground. Patches of sun illuminate distant green, undulating terrain. Semerwater in the distance. Clouds with patches of blue sky allowing shafts of light to penetrate.A protruding gritstone bluff juts from the steep green landscape of Wensleydale, Yorkshire. Ground falls steeply to the left only to rise again high in the distance.A rugged, rocky gorge climbs steeply. Grass & trees cling to the sides. Although dry, the evidence of stormwater is everywhere. Steep rocky sides from a cleft which makes a triangular shape, filled by blue sky and light cloud.Late sun casts vivid red onto the undersides of cloud. Almost unnatural. Brightness on the horizon (which comprises stone cottage rooftops, trees and to the side the scaffold clad tower of 14th century St. Oswald’s church). A keen northerly wind belies the warmth of the image.

It’ll be Halloween soon.
Now that UK children have been infected with the curse of ‘Trick or treat’, it’s only right that both sides can chose to trick. Combined with the programmable front door light which can be set to turn blood red when approached, some were indeed startled. I demanded sweets & they obliged.

Sadly they seemed to come back again 10 minutes later 🤨

This year I’m escalating to ‘Grim Reaper’ c/w black robes & scythe. ☠️
