I resigned from ExxonMobil today. I spent the last three years doing fossil fuel extraction research at both BP and ExxonMobil. Neither company is acting responsibly. They are racing to maximize extraction while the window to act closes, and gambling with our lives. More below.

The switch to plastic (from glass) for things in bottles and jars was done to reduce shipping weight. I noticed way more produce in plastic packages starting from the pandemic when it was done to protect mushrooms, etc. from people from sneezing on them. Plus they sell more. I hate the plastic.

One way to support Canadian businesses is to pay cash. Using any major credit card supports US owned credit card companies. It also helps businesses because when you pay cash they don't have to pay transaction fees for each purchase to the credit card companies. Some will give you a discount too.

One more comment. I sometimes like to take my cat for a leashed walk. He's not allowed to roam free so he doesn't kill birds, or get injured. My ability to walk him is restricted because I constantly have to look for off-leash dogs. A dog bouncing up to him would not go well.

A 'well trained dog' bounded up to me in our neighbourhood park and promptly tore my shopping bag to get at a roast chicken. The owner struggled to retrieve the dog, and still insisted on how well trained he was.

I saw 2 people's off-leash dogs meet each other and promptly start to fight. The owners grappled with the dogs to get them off of each other. Couldn't help but call out "it wouldn't have happened if the dogs were leashed!". Suddenly, I was the bad guy. 🤷‍♀️
