I would recommend turning 2-3 of these into presentable documents and uploading them to lipamanka.gay as a showcase. (worth keeping track of the time it takes to do that too)

So I use youtube with dearrow. It replaces thumbnails with automatic screengrabs from the video. It's supposed to reduce clickbait. Sometimes, however, the automatic thumbnails are absolute treasures
The thumbnail of a game show video from the Technical Difficulties, with Tom Scott in the background, as Gary Brannan's face is amusingly uncomfortably close to the camera

"go" meaning "let's (go and)..." has also been borrowed to Russian slang, at least as of the 2010s

There are suffixes you can use to subtract full-sentence uses of ngrams, e.g. toki - toki_FULL - toki a_FULL to only see non phatic toki

The main problem is Bluesky has hundreds of open PRs, and maintainers take a while to go through the backlog.

my 2¢: hermits can decide to stop associating with an individual any time they want. doesn't matter how guilty they are, or how serious the offense is. they are a team and its their choice who to work with. "cancel culture" is just... communities' ability to self moderate.

For reference, most of the toki pona activity happens on Discord. We have a decent sub-demographic of Fedi users and have at times tried to establish communities in Mastodon (toki.social) and Matrix, but the community size never snowballed. Hopefully one succeeds on bluesky, but we'll see.

so something like > nasa la mi toki pona wawa lon lawa. could work. overall, you know enough words to begin your journey, but you haven't seen enough sentences to get a feel for how they are structured! id recommend reading more texts or talking to other teachers of the language.

kala Asi @asi.fish · 22/01/2025
> nasa la mi toki pona tawa pi telo seme? i think by "tawa" (move) you meant "lawa" (head). not sure what you meant by seme, your translation isn't a question. its cool that you know the etymology of "fluent"! in toki pona however we rarely compare fluency to flow of water. id prefer wawa (strength)

> mi sona tenpo lili e toki pona for a beginner this is close enough! i would say > mi sona e toki pona lon tenpo lili

in toki pona, only the second way is seen: (1) _mi_ wile pana (3) e toki pona mi (2) tawa sina. or, in more general terms: __ li __ e __ tawa __ Notice how everything after the subject has a particle/preposition! This can help you not miss an 'e'. (btw try pana for "to share"! sona is more "know")

> i can show you my toki pona skills. okay so this sentence actually has three(!) people/things involved: 1) i 2) you 3) my toki pona (skills) in english there are two equally valid ways to construct this sentence. the one above + this one: > i can show my toki pona skills to you.
