Don't get me wrong, i did love some of the aesthetics of the grunge era, and some of the technofuturistic utopia vibes of the turn of the millennium. Even the things that people are nostalgic for, often had flaws and were the creative risks in a sea of imitators, hackneyed throwaway media and products, and people being nostalgic for the cherry-picked things of the twenty years before them. I grew up in the 2000s. IT WASN'T THAT FUCKING GREAT.

Mainstream nostalgia is also a psyop. Specifically, the cherry-picked survivorship-bias-surviving "Remember when we had this?" and recently, it's increasingly been consumerism and brands. It's a psyop to stifle growth, creativity, and whimsy - to keep a populace docile, placid, and conservative.

Being away from social media, as counterproductive as it may seem to awareness of social issues, has genuinely been helping me the last few months, on top of counselling, psychiatrist appointments, physio, and other self-care bits including trauma work and inner child healing. The Bikkie is alive.
