The bus ends up taking a wrong turn. I point this out. I get repeatedly told to be quiet… then told to shut up. When the bus got to downtown Washington, everyone is lost and confused save for me. I tell the driver what to do and get everyone back on track.

In DC is a large Catholic basilica church. When it was built, my great grandparents donated money so their name is on the wall. My grandparents wanted me to come to take my picture next to the name. I said “fine, I’ll come, but I get to go ride the DC Metro while you do your church things…”

My grandparents never, EVER, took me serious as an adult. They still saw that little tike sitting on the carpet playing with my diecast Thomas the Tank Engine collection. One time, after I’d reached adulthood, I got roped in to a bus trip to Washington DC with their parish church.

During the Six Day War, a US Navy SIGINT ship, USS Liberty, was attacked by the Israeli military twice, once by fighter jets, and once by torpedo boats. 34 crew members were killed, 171 were wounded, and the ship was a write off as uneconomical to repair, sold for scrap six years later

The problem with her idealism on the subject is that there must always be a “currency”. We live in a scarcity economy. Something must be used to control the allocation of resources. Even in a moneyless society, so long as scarcity is a thing, we need a “currency”.
