It follows several years of research, including a population-based observational study and a lot of systematic reviews, to ensure we have, for the first time, a sound evidence base and a good understanding of the signs and symptoms of childhood cancer and the pathways to diagnosis.

Results show no difference in access to diagnosis based on sex, ethnicity, geography or deprivation, but that there are differences depending on the type of cancer, and on age - with bone tumours, lymphoma, and brain tumours, and teenagers experiencing the longest intervals. (4/7)
