An incredible achievement and a joy to visit!

That said, code can still do: `Composite([a,b,c])` to emulate an ordered tuple like key instead of naming each property explicitly. So not completely impossible.

The performance of creating each object will be, at best, linear with the number of properties. So a risk with tuples is that code might treat them like a cons-list with fast prepend and end up being accidentally quadratic.

I'm really excited with the amount of things we now have agreement on! Still some open design points to resolve before Stage 2.7 but have already had great input on these 🚀

Yeah, that's really impressive. Really well explained.

This is why I don't love the hype around download numbers. Downloads are cache misses 😀

Would it be possible to update the diagram in the post to make it easier to know which logo is which framework?

I treat myself to printed magazines when travelling. Had a work trip last week so have MIT tech review and the Economist in my bad right now.
Ashley holding MIT Technology Review and The Economist magazines to his chest looking curiously excited (or at last that was the intention)

I do find conditionals helpful in certain situations, when the negative case would trigger so much logging it would slow the system. But that isn't super common. When performance is ok: unconditionally logging and then grepping the output seems to work fine.

I think enabling coverage tracking disables JS optimizations, at least in v8. I think that's why the data is only collected when devtools is open.

I likely misunderstood the blog post. Wasn't the goal to implement a go compiler in the type system

Probably just kept randomly generating text until the proof was done. Monte Carlo odds on that can't be that bad.

Pre-computing them is a clever idea! I wanted to add client side code formatting to an internal docs site we had, but didn't want to ship prettier to the client. In hind sight your approach makes total sense, we don't need to handle arbitrary widths, they bucket very well

Great timing! We were literally discussing which style of assert API we wanted to expose from an internal testing library yesterday. Had forgotten about the type narrowing difference.

Just write every app as one single file with zero dependencies.

Seems allright if .return is thought of as "dispose". It's disposing something that was never started, so no need for a finally block to clean up.

Reminds me of this one: for (let i = 0; i < 10; i++) { console.log(i); try { break } finally { continue } }

To be fair, another system could be the one that wrote the json file and does add a BOM, and is very annoying bug to hit when it happens.

Ashley Claymore @ashley-c.bsky.social · 12/08/2026
Yeah, syntax would be really handy. Such as `#{ x, y }`. However I think the committee would want to see more adoption before adding new syntax, as the remaining space available for new syntax is small and new syntax is a bit more disruptive to the ecosystem due to parser upgrades.

Ashley Claymore @ashley-c.bsky.social · 12/08/2026
Yeah that would be better way of doing it for this case, rather than having two collections. I'll rewrite that part of the readme. Thanks for pointing it out Axel!

I wonder if it would be possible to make minified files easier to review by formatting them first before doing the diff. Also, DryDock is such a good name for this - nice one!

> "Other former staff members were reassigned to Alphabet's drug-discovery company Isomorphic Labs, which is a DeepMind spin-off." I think this is the key bit, AlphaFold isn't dead it's just moved to Isomorphic Labs

Interesting. Does stable here mean "static" in that it never changes during the lifetime of the render or something else?

> "No manually maintained dependency arrays." For the React code I'm writing I feel like this is already the case. React compiler means effectively no useMemo and useCallback. And eslint React plugin auto fixes useEffect deps. And I find them useful to read explicitly when reviewing other code.

You're right that there isn't AFAIK an early syntax error for a bad reference, only invalid declarations. This came up in yesterday's TC39 meeting, it will need more research to see if this could even be implemented efficiently

I'm a little confused how they differ from how OpenGraph links already had previews. Is it proving something about the tech that there was doubt over?
