Just astonishing amounts of advancing on LGBT+ rights that this government is showing.
A screenshot taken from the ILGA Rainbow Map website, with the selected category of 'legal gender recognition' which shows much of Northern Europe in green, indicating that legal gender recognition is permitted. The UK meanwhile, is the same deep red as Russia, a country famous for its repression of LGBTQ+ people and movements.

Friend of mine's an influencer, she got an offer to 'collaborate' with Vichy and I'll be honest, reeeeeaally not sure about their phrasing there, given the name...

Okay I know taking photos of your hot drinks is a bit done but look at this cute little number in a weird little cup I got from the cafe attached to the bike shop near me. It's like a tiny vase!
A picture of an oat milk chai latte topped with cinnamon in an unusual curved cup. It is brown and the top curves over the sides, so that it ultimately resembles a small vase.

*sigh* Yep. That hurt.
A screenshot from the videogame Life is Strange. It shows a colossal tornado and in front of it, looking small, is the game's protagonist Max, kissing her "best friend" Chloe on the lips. This scene is only seen in one of the two potential endings of the game. It's an older game now but I still love it and would recommend giving it a go. It'll break your heart.

As a fan of the Expanse books and series, let me just say "ah shit, we're boned. Pack it up lads, we had a good run but the Protomolecule is here now"
A photograph of Pluto, taken from orbit. It is a snapshot of an article from the Independent and the text reads "Mystery molecule found on both Pluto and Saturn's moon leaves astronomers stumped"

Reminder that, six years ago, the Tory government at the time was somewhere to the left of Starmer's government on trans rights.
A snippet of a document from the Conservative UK government in 2020 about reforms to the 2003 Gender Recognition Act that were then being considered. The subheading is "Everyone's rights must be protected." The text then reads: We know that people have concerns about the reforms of the GRA leading to the removal of single-sex services or women-only spaces. The following text is highlighted: "There is no reason why simplifying the process for obtaining a GRC should have an effect on these protected spaces and services which are covered separately under the Equality Act 2010"

New glasses! Because I am over 40 and now officially An Old™️ it turns out I need different glasses for reading and for distance. I know varifocals exist but the lenses for them are suuuuuuper expensive and apparently take a lot of getting used to.

That's your view, is it Andy? Because it's incoherent. There is no way to implement the SC ruling and the new EHRC guidance without further marginalising an already marginalised community because that's what the ruling and guidance are for, to push trans people further out of public life.
Asked about new guidance on single sex spaces, Andy Burnham said: “I think the time has come to take the Supreme Court ruling and the guidance and implement it, but to do it in a way that protects those spaces but does not marginalise already marginalised communities, that's my view.

"My mum and dad brought me up to live and let live. I think Britain needs to get back to a more 'live and let live' approach to life, not where we're constantly arguing with each other, being judgmental about each other.

"Lets implement the guidance, but to do it in the fairest and most compassionate way possible."

He said he thought Britain had done too much of rerunning arguments. "We've got to stop arguing with each other. We've got to start by finding some common ground and start pulling together," he added.

Awesome! My spoils from @delospublishing.co.uk that I mentioned on the podcast have arrived! The 'We Resist' zine is very satisfying, even beautiful in parts. Looking forward to looking through the new avant-garde later tonight.
Two small printed zines on a white surface. One is titled 'the new avant-garde' and the second is 'We Resist', which is printed with a three-pointed symbol popular in the trans community on the cover. On top are two smaller stickers, both saying 'We Resist', one showing that same symbol and the second with the pink, blue and white of the trans flag.

Oooh they are *pissed*. Which has cheered me up immensely!
A screenshot of the website of Sex Matters, a UK anti-trans group. It is the start of an article titled "The Levy review of adult gender services", under which is written "A wasted opportunity to rethink a failed treatment model." The overall joke being if an anti-trans group don't like it, then it's probably a good thing.

These are apparently actual suggestions for The Party Currently known as Your Party. If they end up with For the Many the acronym will be FtM, which should amuse any trans men in the room.
Text that reads: What should the party be called? We asked you to give us your ideas and now you can vote for your favourite from the shortlist:

A) Your Party

B) Our Party

C) Popular Alliance

D) For The Many

It kind of feels like Zarah Sultana is the one and only member of Your Party who isn't a committed transphobe.
A text post, with a small image of Jeremy Corbyn and Zarah Sultana towards the bottom. The text at the top reads: Mark Serwotka, at the heart of the creation of Your Party, makes a heartfelt plea for transphobia in the party. 'Everything should be on the table for discussion as we move forward, but a plea, this must be open, fraternal and comradely - no heresy hunting, no deplatforming, none of that intolerance that has driven so many people, particularly women campaigning for their sex-based rights, away from the existing left.'

Then below the photo is a link to a Morning Star Online article titled "The stakes are too high to allow Your Party to fail through bad-faith politics"

Blessed Samhain, y'all.
Photo shows a woman in a black dress and dark makeup sat at a table. On the table are various trappings of witchcraft including candles, a dark cloth on which crystals are placed, a tarot deck, a dagger and a small circular wooden wheel showing the 8 sabbats of the year.

Normal island. Unbiased media, not a problem, nothing to see here.
A list of 5 BBC articles from subsequent days about the Durham nurses. Each article is framed from the nurses point of view and seems to frame trans people's existence in the workplace as a problem. The articles have titles like "Nurse says trans colleague put her in 'panic mode'" and "Hospital 'prioritised' rights of transgender staff" and, most recently, "Hospital's trans policy inquiry 'failed' nurses." It demonstrates how the BBC has spent a whole week talking about the case from one point of view, keeping it in the public mind that trans people are unreasonable and scary.

Yesterday I shared a post claiming that the BMA had drafted a motion strongly criticizing the recent supreme court judgement. It has turned out to be a fake image. I should have tried to check it out first before I shared it. Sorry, all. My bad.
Important Fact-Check on the BMA Image Going Around

There's an image being shared claiming that the British Medical Association (BMA) condemned the recent UK Supreme Court ruling and the new EHRC guidance as "biologically nonsensical" and "scientifically illiterate."

X

At the moment, this statement is not real - the BMA has not officially published anything like it.

(2/3)

The image seems to have been shared out of hope for solidarity, but sadly it's too good to be true for now.

However, real organisations have spoken out:

The Good Law Project called the EHRC guidance "a political attack on trans people."

Liberty said it "undermines" the Equality Act and increases harm.

Stonewall described it as "a devastating rollback of rights."

Christine Burns warned of a deliberate political erasure of trans people.

Last week's craft project was this mask, which I absolutely loved. I'd tag the designer but they're not on BlueSky (yet). If you're interested it's from wintercroft.com/collections/.... You print the design, stick it to your choice of cardboard then cut it out & stick it together. It's good fun ☺️

I've been getting back up to my old tricks today, filming and recording for a project to be released in late January. Stay tuned!
A trans woman sits facing the camera, her asymmetrical hair is short & brown on one side and long & pink on the other. She is wearing a purple cardigan over a black top, with a skirt full of stars, planets and nebulae. She has a microphone stand pointing to her mouth and she is making the classic bisexual finger guns pose.

Warming up after this year's TDoR event in Sackville Gardens. The list of names grows longer every year, I don't think the next few years will see it get shorter. A very solemn occasion, as always. Mourn the dead, fight like hell for the living Xx
A number of people are placing candles all around 'The Beacon of Hope' in Manchester, UK. The monument is a silver cylinder atop a three-sided base adorned with colored tiles. It is night time but the base is lit by the dozens of candles that have been left already.

I did mention the #LEGO didn't I? I had a birthday recently and received this from my nearest and dearest. Putting it together was an absolute joy, even if my hands shake a little these days. What a beautiful set Xx
A rendition of Vincent van Gogh's painting The Starry Night done in Lego. It shows a sky of light blue and dark blue spiraling together with streaks of yellow and small spots for the stars. The moon is yellow on the upper right, above a small village which is dwarfed by a large cypress tree on the left.
