Great news. Hopefully people will choose to apply these rebates/refunds to their private pension funds and alleviate the shortfall in their governments' abilities to provision them. www.wsj.com/economy/trad...

I like to think of my self as an academi-shun - a stupid person with (more than enough) time and money to do nothing that gives other people an incentive to check their watches.

When your money (as a community) has gone to war against your kind in everyway you seek to return a favor and withhold your most creative angle - violence - because it turns back on those who inflict it. While old age comes sooner than you can think - now.

Three strikes is essentially the price for universal basic math - a slice for life became 'life is a slice' a long time (ago).

The Mainframe hasn't been around that long. Our ideas - the only ones we ever had predate that by a long way. Weights and measure. wait is now procrastinate is now late because 'Sorry I had an emergency'. Which became ER (where you go to die).

The Great Resignation was Aung San Suu Kyi singing Auld Lang Syn. They were rich and will probably stay rich - it's a burden and it was a learning experience for those of us who went flat early and have a ever higher standard definition for the term 'life was satisfactory experience'

Raising kids was entertaining. After they grew up and you looked up at the bullshit world you realize that you haven't really done the kids themselves any favours by bringing them into the world - but hope they don't mind too much (fingers crossed they don't resent me for their existence).

In the backcountry there are times when you can barely discern the trail - you use your mouth by keeping it still. Sometimes the song heavy rotates and you try to stop it. On your own it's easy not to get turned and lose the trail.

Back when I was a kid (near Canary Wharf), canaries where not literally harmed when you used their names for the secret question to remember your password. Mining was hazardous however (below the surface is something not so skin-deep).

Hot wallet passwords - you have to read them carefully before you press ok - make sure they are beta-numeric. Alpha won't work in symbols - you need a 'difference' engine (and that margin is gone).

Thomson Reuters is a holding pen - an expensive one that needed to be sorted. People who worked there were good enough to do a job and not susceptible to extortion or blackmail - they weren't criminals in the 'street' sense. Task oriented and didn't ask too many question (or had the answers).

Countries need to secure digital infrastructure and the pipes they run for capital. That's why Canada's banking infrastructure is relatively centralized (it has the network all along - they were there before regions had any capacity to measure local money velocity). Now of course we also have ATMs.
