Republicans try to use the Budget Reconciliation bill to stop states from regulating Al entirely for 10 years.”

“Late last night, House Republicans introduced new language to the Budget Reconciliation bill that will immiserate the
lives of millions of Americans by cutting their access to Medicaid, and making life much more difficult for millions more by
making them pay higher fees when they seek medical care. While a lot of attention will be justifiably given to these cuts, the bill has also crammed in new language that
attempts to entirely stop states from enacting any regulation against artificial intelligence.”

“ “...no State or political subdivision thereof may enforce any law or regulation regulating artificial intelligence models, artificial intelligence systems, or automated decision systems during the 10 year period beginning on the date of the enactment of this Act," says the text of the bill introduced Sunday night by Congressman Brett Guthrie of Kentucky, Chairman of the House Committee on Energy and Commerce. The text of the bill will be considered by the House at the budget reconciliation markup on May 13.”

“That language of the bill, how it goes on to define Al and other "automated systems," and what it considers "regulation," is broad enough to cover relatively new generative Al tools and technology that has existed for much longer. In theory, that language will make it impossible to enforce many existing and proposed state laws that aim to protect people from and inform them about Al systems.”

If you’re just learnin about the video game strike, I wanna clarify a key detail I’ve seen get distorted a lot: Generally, the *developer* decides whether to sign an interim agreement, not the recording studio. Often, the studio is only a middleman. They do not set this term.

There are many contracts out there with AI protections, but only SAG Interim & Tiered Budget Contracts provide actors with a legal team to enforce the contract at no cost. Legal fees are expensive, and many actors would have to go into debt to enforce our own contracts if they were violated.

Clarifying stuff I've seen regarding the strike recently: -Anyone can work on a SAG contract, Union, non-union, US, international, etc. -The SAG Interim Tiered Budget Agreement has options for indie and lower-budget video games. -Unpaid Game Jam waivers exist, and are negotiated per project (...)

Hey all! If you don’t see voice actors commenting on IPs affected by the video game strike or are confused by non-specific responses to questions, all of that is likely because actors are under NDA for a lotttt of things at any given time and probably can’t talk about it.

Happy 2025 besties! While it’s a brand new year, we actors are STILL very much on strike. So a reminder that if you’re seeing voices left silent in any games right now, it’s a good indicator that the game isn’t on one of the few safe contracts to work right now.

Re: some misinfo— while there are certain projects & studios that are specifically struck, technically doing any game work rn that’s not on an Interim/TBA SAG agreement A) leaves your voice vulnerable to being fed to AI B) undermines/slows the progress of the strike for everyone Let’s be a team!

I've seen some misinformation regarding the video game/interactive strike. I'm not going to call out anyone or any game in the process. Instead I'm going to remind people the strike is still happening for all Union voice actors. Which means they are not allowed to work on any game unless (1/3)
