I think the core claims are: - there's a huge conspiracy to make LLMs seem smarter than they are by running inputs through a classifier, parsing math queries, and handing them to a calculator - also LLMs aren't really LLMs anymore because there's math in the training data This seems fragile

A sunlit hillside scene in early autumn. In the foreground, a straight concrete drainage chute or spillway descends a slope of golden dry grass dotted with silvery sagebrush bushes and clusters of yellow wildflowers, ending at the edge of an asphalt road at the bottom of the frame. Beyond the slope, a large foothill rises, covered in a mix of green shrubs and trees displaying fall colors of orange, rust, and yellow, with exposed rocky outcroppings near its crest. A tall monopole cell tower with white panel antennas stands mid-slope among the colorful trees, and a utility power pole with transmission lines is visible on a ridge at the upper left. A single leafy green tree stands at the right edge. The sky above is cloudless and deep blue.

The image presents a desolate, barren expanse dominated by a single tall, tapering spire that rises from the center of the frame toward a pale, hazy sky. The spire narrows to a sharp point at its apex, from which a very thin, needle-like antenna or spike extends vertically, and its left face is covered in a dense, web-like lattice texture illuminated with magenta and green highlights along its edges. In the lower-left foreground stands a blocky, rectangular structure whose facade is marked by a regular grid of small window-like panels, its surfaces rendered in dull gray with fringes of purple and cyan. To the right, several lower, chunky buildings and rubble-like forms are scattered across the flat ground, their edges tinged with the same pinkish-magenta luminescence. The background dissolves into a flat, featureless horizon with only faint, indistinct shapes suggesting distant terrain or structures beneath a uniform, washed-out sky. Lighting is flat and diffuse with no discernible single source, casting a cool, desaturated gray-green color temperature over the entire scene and producing only soft, minimal shadows. The photograph is heavily degraded by digital distortion, with wavy, rainbow-colored artifacts of magenta, green, and cyan rippling along the left and right borders and bleeding into the structures. The camera sits at roughly eye level at a medium distance, framing the composition symmetrically so that the central spire serves as the clear focal point. No people, animals, or moving subjects are visible anywhere in the scene, reinforcing the empty, abandoned atmosphere. The overall framing emphasizes verticality, drawing the eye from the low blocky ruins in the foreground up along the long, glowing shaft of the tower to its needle tip against the pale sky.A young woman with short, dark blue bob-cut hair stands at the center of the frame, facing the viewer in a relaxed upright pose with her arms hanging loosely at her sides. Her expression is calm and neutral, with a pale complexion. She wears a cropped, light-colored top paired with dark shorts, and her upper arms and shoulders appear fitted with segmented mechanical or armored pieces accented by small blue glowing elements. Encircling her is a large, swirling oval ring or portal-like structure with a glossy, iridescent surface that catches streaks of color and curves around her body like a frame. Behind her, the background reveals a desolate, ruin-like environment of broken concrete structures and overgrown greenery under a pale, hazy sky. The entire image is overlaid with a heavy digital glitch effect, producing vertical bands of shifted magenta, green, and cyan pixels that fragment the edges and texture. Lighting is soft and diffuse, consistent with an overcast day, casting gentle shadows and giving the scene a cool, muted color temperature. The camera sits at eye level in a medium-full shot, using the luminous ring to create a strong central focal emphasis that isolates the figure against the decayed backdrop.A dark, boxy armored vehicle dominates the center-left of the frame, angled slightly toward the viewer with its front and left side visible. The vehicle has a flat, angular hull with two large windshields glowing a bright greenish hue, several vertical antennas rising from its roof, and a small cabin or turret structure on top. Its wheels are dark and rugged, resting on uneven, rocky ground scattered with stones and debris. To the right, a massive overhanging formation—resembling a concrete or stone overhang with a vivid magenta-pink underside—stretches across the upper-right portion of the scene, partially framing the space. The background is hazy and indistinct, filled with faint silhouettes of rocky outcrops and a pale, overcast sky that suggests a foggy or smog-filled atmosphere. The overall lighting is dim and diffuse, with a cool, desaturated color palette accented by unnatural magenta and green tints. The entire image is heavily affected by digital distortion, with wavy, melted edges and color-fringing artifacts creeping in from all four borders, giving the frame a glitched, corrupted appearance. The camera sits at roughly eye-level to slightly low angle at a medium distance, placing the vehicle as the clear focal point while the overhang on the right balances the composition. No people are visible in the scene.

riding a 737 I got to see this rippled altocumulus layer:

A view from an airplane window looking out over a vast layer of white, rippled clouds that form parallel rows, resembling a textured ocean. Above the clouds, the sky is a clear, deep blue fading to a lighter haze at the horizon. In the foreground on the right, the white wing of the aircraft is visible, featuring visible rivets, panel lines, and a blue winglet at the tip. The dark frame of the airplane window borders the left side of the image.

true, and at night when they have a narrowband gas-discharge lamp that turns on and off unpredictably... sublime
A dim, heavily green-tinted outdoor scene captured at what appears to be dusk or in low ambient light, with a flat, featureless grayish-blue sky filling the upper two-thirds of the frame and a small, faint green disc hovering near the center, possibly a lens artifact. In the lower-middle ground stands a small, boxy structure resembling a shed or kiosk, its front face glowing with a soft pinkish-white light emanating from a window or doorway, and a curved, ribbed roofline extends to the left of it. To the right of the structure, a circular satellite dish is mounted on a slender vertical pole, tilted upward toward the sky, while a second rounded, dome-like object sits lower on the far right. A chain-link fence runs horizontally across the foreground, partially obscuring the base of the building and the dish, and tufts of grass are visible along the bottom edge. Behind these elements, a dark, silhouetted tree line or low hill stretches across the horizon, topped by several utility poles with sagging wires and a taller communications tower bearing clustered antennas near the center-right. The lighting is uniformly soft and diffuse with no discernible direction or hard shadows, dominated by a monochromatic green color cast that mutes all other tones. The camera is positioned at roughly eye level at a medium distance, framing the small lit structure as the focal point in the lower third while leaving the vast, empty sky as the dominant compositional element.

just a few hours into the AGI era; it's taking over cities
A tall, light-colored office building rises vertically through the frame, its facade organized into a grid of large rectangular windows that alternate between dark glass reflecting the night sky and panels glowing with warm interior light. At street level, a projecting entrance canopy with horizontal wooden slats is illuminated from below by small recessed spotlights, and the words "ASTRA TOWER" appear in glowing lettering on its dark fascia. Two massive cylindrical columns clad in pale panels flank the glass entryway, whose double doors and surrounding glazing reveal a dimly lit lobby interior. Several tapered planters hold conical evergreen topiaries positioned along the storefront windows, which reflect blue and pink hues from nearby signage. The foreground consists of a broad paved plaza of light stone tiles, where a pair of inverted-U metal bike racks and a small dark cage-like enclosure sit near the curb. To the right, a second high-rise building recedes into the distance, its grid of windows dotted with scattered warm lights against the dark backdrop. The camera is positioned at a low, slightly tilted angle looking upward from a medium distance, emphasizing the height of the structure and placing the entrance near the lower center of the composition.

2046 thoughts… this would make an insane music venue and/or theme park after it shuts down
A single, extremely tall concrete smokestack rises vertically through the center of the frame, its long light-gray shaft showing faint horizontal seams and a slightly tapered profile, capped by a shorter, darker charcoal-colored upper section. The stack's base sits in a broad, flat industrial yard crisscrossed by pale roads and patches of bare earth, with a long run of white pipework snaking across the ground to the right of its foundation. Scattered low buildings, storage areas, and a pair of circular tank-like structures occupy the mid-right ground, while the immediate foreground is threaded with transmission towers and a dense web of power lines and utility frameworks. Beyond the industrial site, the land flattens into coastal marshland dotted with small reflective ponds, meeting a wide expanse of calm gray water at the horizon, where a low, hazy mountain ridge silhouettes itself against the sky. The sky itself is a soft, washed-out gradient, shifting from muted blue-gray at the top to a thin band of pale pink and orange along the horizon, indicating dusk. Lighting is diffuse and gentle, with the low sun casting a faint warm highlight along the left edge of the stack and producing only subtle, soft shadows across the terrain. The viewpoint is a high aerial angle looking downward from above the complex, placing the observer well over the surrounding structures. Compositionally, the image is a tall vertical format with the stack anchored dead center as a dominant vertical line, and the entire scene carries a faded, desaturated color cast that mutes contrast and gives the photograph a hazy, atmospheric quality. No people or moving subjects are visible anywhere in the frame.

saw these beautiful clouds today 😶‍🌫️
A wide, flat highway stretches toward a low horizon beneath an expansive, overcast sky that fills the upper two-thirds of the frame with layered gray clouds. On the left, a broad curtain of falling rain hangs vertically from the cloud base, appearing as a pale, hazy shaft that lightens the otherwise dim atmosphere. The road surface in the foreground is a smooth expanse of gray pavement marked by faint lane lines that converge toward a central vanishing point. A few vehicles travel away from the viewer in the middle distance, including a light-colored car and a darker car spaced across the lanes. To the left, a large semi-truck with a boxy trailer sits low against the flat landscape, its dark cab and pale cargo container standing out against the muted background. Along the right side of the highway, low industrial buildings or warehouses and a row of utility poles alongside a single curved streetlight are visible near the horizon. Faint, low hills or distant mountains barely rise on the far right edge, softened by the haze. The lighting is flat and diffuse, with no distinct shadows, and the color temperature is a cool, desaturated gray that gives the entire scene a somber, hazy quality. The camera is positioned at eye level, likely from within a moving vehicle, capturing the scene with a wide field of view that emphasizes the vastness of the sky. Compositionally, the receding road lines draw the eye to the center, while the vertical rain curtain on the left balances the horizontal spread of the clouds and the flat terrain.

this is a perfect example of what Ousterhout calls a false abstraction. The chat UI is an extreme version of a simple interface with all the complexity pulled down. It works very well in many cases, but for some narrowly-scoped tasks, it needlessly obfuscates what you're trying to do.
In the definition of abstraction, the word “unimportant” is crucial. The more unimportant details that are omitted from an abstraction, the better. However, a detail can only be omitted from an abstraction if it really is unimportant. An abstraction can go wrong in two ways. First, it can include details that are not really important; when this happens, it makes the abstraction more complicated than necessary, which increases the cognitive load on developers using the abstraction. The second error is when an abstraction omits details that really are important. This results in obscurity: developers looking only at the abstraction will not have all the information they need to use the abstraction correctly. An abstraction that omits important details is a false abstraction: it might appear simple, but in reality it isn’t. The key to designing abstractions is to understand what is important, and to look for designs that minimize the amount of information that is important.
As an example, consider a file system. The abstraction provided by a file system omits many details, such as the mechanism for choosing which blocks on a storage device to use for the data in a given file. These details are unimportant to users of the file system (as long as the system provides adequate performance). However, some of the details of a file system’s implementation are important to users. Most file systems cache data in main memory, and they may delay writing new data to the storage device in order to improve performance. Some applications, such as databases, need to know exactly when data is written through to storage, so they can ensure that data will be preserved after system crashes. Thus, the rules for flushing data to secondary storage must be visible in the file system’s interface...

This high-angle aerial shot captures a textured landscape dominated by horizontal bands of white, grey, and earthy brown. The upper portion of the frame features a rough, uneven surface characterized by dark brown, jagged streaks that cut across a pale grey background. Below this, a middle section displays a complex, wavy pattern resembling dried salt deposits or eroded sediment, with undulating layers of white and light grey. These textures create a sense of movement, looking like frozen waves or geological strata exposed by erosion. A distinct, dark, curving line separates this textured land from the lower section, which appears to be a body of still, murky water or a smooth, flat basin. The bottom area is a uniform, muted grey-brown, contrasting with the chaotic textures above. The lighting is soft and diffused, casting no harsh shadows and highlighting the subtle variations in the surface texture. The composition is strictly horizontal, emphasizing the geological layering and the vast, empty expanse of the environment.

I got Mormonism but specifically the South Park satirical version 😭
AI Overview
You are a newly deceased spirit realizing that the exact, exclusive truth belonged to none other than the fictional "Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints" as depicted in the animated satire South Park. The creator of the universe is not a singular, traditional bearded man, but rather a mild-mannered alien from the planet Marklar.
Upon this cosmic reveal, the afterlife operates precisely according to "All About Mormons" (Season 7, Episode 12):
The Only Right Answer: The Mormons were correct all along. All other major world religions guessed wrong and received zero points for their belief systems.
The "Marklar" Rule: Instead of a traditional heaven or hell, the afterlife is a unified, forgiving paradise. Everyone gets saved and enjoys unlimited charades, singing, cookies, and juice.
The Ultimate Reward: The only caveat is that devout Mormons get their own planets to rule. Everyone else simply gets to exist comfortably in the celestial kingdom.
Now that the mystery of the universe has been solved:Would you like to research your new planet's real estate potential?
Shall we review the rules of charades before you arrive at the celestial kingdom?
Do you want to hear what the other aliens have to say about this cosmic hierarchy?

A slender young figure with an androgynous appearance stands upright at the center of the frame, arms hanging loosely at the sides on a dark, broken ledge. They have short, tousled silver-white hair, narrow amber eyes, and a flat, somber expression, gazing slightly downward and to the side. Their outfit consists of a pale sleeveless crop top, a blue vest draped over one shoulder, tight black shorts, and white high-top sneakers. Mechanical details mark the body, including a white segmented robotic left arm with visible joints and small dark panels or ports on the knees. Behind the figure rises a ruined cityscape of tall, weathered concrete towers with crumbling facades and bare, skeletal branches at their bases. The sky is a flat, overcast gray, while a vivid magenta-purple glow washes up from the lower portions of the buildings. Lighting is soft and diffuse, with the cool daylight contrasted by that saturated pink under-light and by rainbow chromatic fringing along the figure's edges. The camera is positioned at a low angle, looking up at the full-length subject from a moderate distance. The composition is centered and enclosed within a warped, liquid-glass oval border whose iridescent rim and scattered pixel-block glitch artifacts frame the entire scene.

Captured from the perspective of a driver inside a vehicle, the scene depicts a wet, multi-lane road stretching toward a distant intersection under a dramatic, overcast sky. A faint, broad rainbow arcs gracefully from the left side of the frame upward into the clouds, set against a backdrop of soft, peach-colored sunset hues that illuminate the heavy cloud cover. The asphalt is slick with rain, creating elongated, shimmering reflections of yellow streetlights and green traffic signals that glow vividly on the wet surface. To the right, a row of wooden utility poles with complex wiring runs parallel to the road, leading the eye toward silhouetted houses and lush green trees. In the distance, dark mountain ranges rise against the horizon, partially obscured by the atmospheric haze. Several cars are visible, including a red SUV parked on the right and others waiting at the intersection or parked along the curb on the left. Water droplets obscure the bottom edge of the frame, likely on the windshield, adding a layer of texture to the view. The lighting is diffuse yet colorful, blending the warm ambient glow of the setting sun with the artificial cool tones of the street lamps and traffic lights. The composition is centered on the road ahead, emphasizing the depth of the street and the atmospheric conditions.

This high-angle aerial shot captures a complex network of waterways and land formations, resembling a glacial delta or outwash plain. A prominent, winding riverbed with distinct blue-green hue meanders horizontally across the lower third of the frame, curving gently from left to right. Above this main channel, the terrain is a mosaic of textures and colors, dominated by patches of bright white and pale grey that suggest mud flats with mineral deposits. Darker, brownish-grey streams branch out like veins or tree roots in the upper left and right sections, contrasting sharply with the lighter ground. The central area features a mottled, sandy appearance with faint, dendritic patterns etched into the surface, possibly indicating dried riverbeds or sediment deposits. The lighting is soft and diffuse, casting no strong shadows and highlighting the intricate, organic patterns of the landscape. The composition fills the entire frame with these natural elements, creating an abstract, almost painterly effect without any visible human presence or structures. The overall palette is cool and muted, ranging from deep earth tones to icy whites and glacial blues.

Two anime-style characters stand side-by-side on a concrete ledge on the left side of the frame, gazing outward with neutral expressions. The taller figure on the left has short, dark blue hair and wears a white jacket with orange accents, black pants, and boots, while the shorter figure beside them has short silver hair and a matching white and orange jacket. They are positioned near a dark, vertical support beam, and the entire image is overlaid with a heavy digital glitch effect that creates vertical strips of pixelated color along the edges and distorts the surrounding structures. To the right, large satellite dishes are mounted on concrete bases, surrounded by lush green vegetation that climbs up the ruins. The background features a dramatic, expansive sky filled with billowing clouds and floating islands of land suspended in the air. The lighting is cool and atmospheric, dominated by shades of blue, cyan, and purple, suggesting an overcast or twilight setting. The camera is positioned at eye level, capturing a wide view that emphasizes the scale of the sky and the floating terrain above the characters and the observation equipment.
