No airports except Beijing Capital, Beijing Daxing, Shanghai Pudong, Shanghai Hongqiao, Wuhan Tianhe and Shenzhen Baoan just to name a few... They also have the largest mass migration anually - the Chunyun travel period. Seems they can cope with it just fine via both trains and planes.

Every so often I remember the Chinese rebellion against half the old world whose last line of defence was basically water magic
https://wikipedia.org/wiki/Boxer_Rebellion

Origin of the Boxers

The Righteous and Harmonious Fists arose in the inland sections of the northern coastal province of Shandong,[9] a region which had long been plagued by social unrest, religious sects, and martial societies. American Christian missionaries were probably the first people who referred to the well-trained, athletic young men as the "Boxers", because of the martial arts which they practised and the weapons training which they underwent. Their primary practice was a type of spiritual possession which involved the whirling of swords, violent prostrations, and incantations to deities.[10]

The opportunities to fight against Western encroachment were especially attractive to unemployed village men, many of whom were teenagers.[11] The tradition of possession and invulnerability went back several hundred years but took on special meaning against the powerful new weapons of the West.[12] The Boxers, armed with rifles and swords, claimed supernatural invulnerability against cannons, rifle shots, and knife attacks. The Boxer groups popularly claimed that millions of soldiers would descend out of heaven to assist them in purifying China of foreign oppression.[13] Members demonstrated their claimed invulnerability to new initiates by firing guns loaded with blank rounds at one another.[14]

there is context behind this but you're not being told it. i don't know why i decided to share this to the world after like 3 months of sitting in pictures. this is the grandest abuse of krita i have done to date. #RinPenrose #InkPaintrose
Rin penrose in a fancy-looking suit holding an umbrella holding a shoddily photoshopped blahaj standing in front of London Euston Railway Station, upon which is a photoshopped train timetable in which all the trains are delayed.

The word "fuck" is written in a old-fashioned typewriter font and the entire image is monochrome. London Euston also had a film grain effect applied onto it.

Fun fact: the Macintosh was originally meant to be a cheap, functional computer before Steve Jobs took it over. The original designer who got kicked out went to Canon to make the Canon Cat. The Macintosh was meant to be a cat! Only Steve's meddling preventing that from happening.

Making websites work with IE is masochism. Unless you're stuck in bondage with China Evergreen Banking Company Limited, or you're actively seeking torture, there is no reason to make anything work with IE. Have your flexboxes. Be happy.

Hamilton "One Last Time" Lyrics Extract

[WASHINGTON]
I need a favor

[HAMILTON]
Whatever you say, sir, Jefferson will pay for his behavior

[WASHINGTON]
Shh. Talk less

[HAMILTON]
I’ll use the press
I’ll write under a pseudonym, you’ll see what I can do to him—

[WASHINGTON]
I need you to draft an address
[HAMILTON]
Yes! He resigned. You can finally speak your mind—

[WASHINGTON]
No, he’s stepping down so he can run for President

[HAMILTON]
Ha. Good luck defeating you, sir

[WASHINGTON]
I’m stepping down. I’m not running for President

[HAMILTON]
I’m sorry, what?

Electric pantograph takes up no space on the train, only require a bit of metal, can be easily wired up to the grid, and are totally safe. Not to mention one pantograph line serves infinite trains. We don't need to make more if we want to run more trains.

Battery catches fires, needs constant replacement, and have huge environmental and financial up-front costs. Hydrogen requires, usually, to be produced from oil, and also catches fire ridiculously easily at the compression needed for trains.

www.libdems.org.uk/conference/m... > f. ...the use of battery and hydrogen in appropriate parts of the network. Annoying in an otherwise good document. Hydrogen and battery aren't a replacement for proper electrification. People will realise this when their trains start blowing up.

There is no comparison between the London Underground and the Wuhan Metro. Crossrail is a minor improvement over decades of bad decisions.

And the Class 777s aren't bad trains either! In fact, they're brand new. It was mainly seeing it struggle to fit through the Mersey tunnel and seeing all the other ancient northens coming past it that was funny.

On my return trip to China I took a CRH2 (based off the Shinkansen E2) bound from Wuhan to Shanghai. It peaked at 310 km/h. The train had the best food car from train I'd ever seen. Returning to the UK, and taking a Merseyrail home, was comparativley laughable.

Round that generation they used yee-old FireWire to do so, so it won't work over regular USB. But it is a proper block device and not some weird protocol.

Yes, this makes it illegal to use federated media like BlueSky. Its possible that BlueSky may have to be illegalized or lobotomised in the UK to fit this act.
000
Arzumify @arzumify.bsky.social · 17/03/2025
This also illegalizes encrypted communications in the UK so they can be "scanned", and makes it harder for small businesses to create any of this as they don't have access to the resources to scan literally every piece of media.
000
Arzumify @arzumify.bsky.social · 17/03/2025
The UK Online Satey Act is being enforced as of today. This means that its now the responsibility of the company to scan and moderate all content on the platform, including encrypted messages and private messages. This virtually destroys any last scraps of basic online privacy in the UK.

For the unaware, this code is bad practice since it doesn't sanitise the path, and even worse, doesn't open a fs.FS which could have saved me if this was a problem. I'm ashamed of myself and should not have gotten away with this. I got damn lucky lmao.

So I was looking through some of my code when I saw this line: file, err := os.Open(filepath.Join(root, filepath.FromSlash(r.URL.Path))) This could have been a directory traversal attack. However, because of pure dumb luck, it happens that Chi saved me due to normalising paths. Thanks Chi ❤️.
