genAI is poisoning our water and planet you should hate it all indiscriminately even if it "never touches" the final product

I was asked to give my thoughts on generative AI usage in games - here they are!

From the article:
"I think that until the bubble bursts, AI will be used by quite a few game companies, and perhaps even beyond the bubble," says Brandon Sheffield of Necrosoft Games, which released the RPG Demonschool last year. "Look, I am not a fool – I understand that AI has some uses. Primary among those being the devaluing of work, the cheapening of labour, the laying off of creatives, and the generation of busywork for humans to fix whatever AI generates."

"It's also useful for burning through water, raising the prices of RAM and chipsets globally, and poisoning anyone near the data centres that run them. So there are a lot of use cases for AI. From spurring on the death of the creative endeavour to dissolving our economy, AI is absolutely gangbusters at what it does. We don't use it in our studio though."

made an entry for the clip studio illustration contest with the theme of cats recently. i wanted to depict the feeling of coming home to a beloved pet (and i made 2 versions because i couldn't decide on colors) #art #digitalart #originalart #character

four people are at a front porch, each with a cat. a small child running up to the porch smiles while holding a kitten. at the porch's steps is a primary school child petting a cat lazing in front of them. a middle schooler is refilling the cat's food bowl as it looks expectantly at them. lastly, a high schooler smiles while petting the cat on a chair, seemingly clearer than the other 3 people. a warm light washes over the piece with blue shadows.

essentially the same as the other version but with everything individually colored in rather than a stark yellow, pink, and blue color scheme.

just wanted to share this video by jazza. he does a great job of covering the situation of genAI as a whole and promoting open-mindedness. the normalization of it is incredibly short-sighted and harms the futures of everyone, not just artists. www.youtube.com/watch?v=zhMp...

after two years of never posting them, here's two characters featured in an animatic i made a while back! i finally decided to post it after letting it accumulate dust in my files for so long. it's up on my youtube channel for anyone interested (@AryTheUnikitty) #art #oc #ocart

two children are playing tag: the one in front is smiling and has a generally warmer color scheme of pinks, oranges, and yellows. the one in the back has their arm outstretched and has a cooler color scheme of blues and purples. they're running on a patch of grass under the speckled night sky as the one in front is looking back at them.

vani (character) is holding her hat upside down as a blue light projects out of it. bats are flying up out of the hat as vani gleefully looks at them. cheese, her trusty flying cat, is perched on her left arm, looking up as well.
