Been harvesting these madrone fruits and freezing them. Yes, you can eat them (squishy and red is best). I put them in smoothies in place of a banana. They are native to California.

Have a sewing machine? GET THE MANUAL. I have 4 nearly identical Sears Kenmores from the 70s, and just assumed they all worked the same way. Over a year after getting one, I just found out it has a drop-feed selection, just in a place I didn't expect. I just danced around my studio.

One of my students last year was punched in the face and called a groomer because she was in an art club where animal masks were a project. Kids are of course picking up on all this hate. A bunch of kids were afraid to come to the afterschool art program after that.
