Felt like drawing some Hero Factory There's wasted potential and then there's whatever the fuck happened with HF.

I think journaling the progress is awesome, it's something great to look back to both as a dev and an interested player down the line once the game is released. There's gonna be a lot of scrutiny moving forward, AI-Gen has already done the damage, it's a damn shame.

I feel naive for thinking Indie would be safe from AI-Gen Now I really think that I can only trust Indie from pre 2024, anything beyond that will need to be looked under the microscope before I make a purchase. I really hate seeing distrust eroding my enjoyment of things.

Yeah the Red War was all about it being a reset, you lost access to all your powers, your gear, scrambling across Earth and other planets to garner the power to retake the city. I can see why Season of Arrivals would have been the best pivot to D3 Still a shame we couldn't end D2 strong like that

As far as I had read, it was only the expansions, I think it's because of how a bunch of the seasons reworked existing spaces of prior expansions. I think one of the most obvious is Arrivals, that one affected multiple destinations. Maybe they meant the mini-raids and premium quests?

They are easily the coolest faction, I can see why Staten wanted them to make them the big bads (iirc) before D1 was rebooted

110

Roly (COMMISSIONS ARE CLOSED) @artroly.bsky.social · 09/10/2026

Pretty much, but I think it's also because Bungie didn't know what they wanted to do with her before ultimately setting her up as a Lightbearer. It's easy to scratch it off as her planning and scheming but you can tell they had lots of different plans for her.

Although I think later on it got retconned, they DO travel through time but more on a dimension-hopping type way, which is how Saint was saved, he was plucked from another timeline. But it needed to be like the same timeline as ours so that our Saint still met us, but died. Perfect paradox stuff

Roly (COMMISSIONS ARE CLOSED) @artroly.bsky.social · 09/10/2026

Nahh, don't worry, D1 wouldn't really help much other than introducing the factions and the whole Hive storyline. Mithrax didn't matter at all, the entire Cabal storyline didn't either. D2 is both a continuation and a reboot when you think about it.

Roly (COMMISSIONS ARE CLOSED) @artroly.bsky.social · 09/10/2026

Seasons were introduced with Forsaken (2018), so anything from then, all the way to Final Shape (2024) is going to have a metric shit ton of empty space, players that weren't there for it will have NO idea what the fuck is going on.

Roly (COMMISSIONS ARE CLOSED) @artroly.bsky.social · 09/10/2026

They bridged the gap between expansions, setting up all the story that will take place during the campaigns, raids, etc. All that context is gone If you play D2 base campaign, including the first 2 expanions and Forsaken, it's pretty straightforward (cont)

Roly (COMMISSIONS ARE CLOSED) @artroly.bsky.social · 09/10/2026

BeanTheWaif explained it pretty well, but since you never played D2, it goes like this: They're bringing back the campaigns and world spaces from the paid Expansions The seasons which include a fuck ton of important story beats and playable content is getting left behind. (cont)

Can't forget the : "wait when did Amanda die, why are the Cabal and Fallen with us, I was shooting at them a minute ago" Or one of the funniest :"Why is Uldren a Guardian" Turns out having very important story beats happen in perishable content may not be the best idea for the long term

So I read that D2 is coming back with its old campaigns unvaulted but not the main meat of the seasons. Man that is a ton of story that gets lost for players who weren't there for it. They're gonna have to do a shit ton of slideshows to cover all that ground between expansions.
