She quite literally has stated that she is using the profits from HP to hurt trans ppl. This new trend is helping promote her works. And on top of that it has originated and has been pushed by really awful folks. The "foid" term is basically a dog whistle for MRA mysoginists.

JKR (the author of the HP books) is using the profit from her works to pay for her anti-trans campaigns and has even managed to change laws in the UK that hurt queerfolk. She is a massive force for that movement in general both in her country but most importantly online.
