The commandments are listed in two places and are slightly different: Exodus 20:1-17 or Deuteronomy 5:6-21. Different religious groups divide up the 10 in different ways, so in this case, the government chose one. I’m not comfortable with a government telling us what is the “right” version.

This weekend is all about studio tour preparations. I feel this is going to be the best year yet. I’ve had a creative surge in the last 12 months and there is so much more to come. www.snohoart.com/snohomish-st...

One of the coolest timelapses I’ve seen with the eyes taking shape, looking directly at me.

My art account was closed too (no photos, only watercolor paintings). I decided I’m done with Instagram. Not an easy decision because I met so many great people there. But Meta is prioritizing influencers, not real people, let alone artists and models. So sad.

This is such a fun interplay with shadows. I can totally see the 007 aesthetic.

I hope it goes well! I know someone who had this procedure and it was life changing for them.

The discomfort makes it even more striking. Amazing work by you and the photographer.

"By couching their shared mission in civilizational, rather than religious terms, they can forge a loose coalition against the groups they perceive as common enemies and existential threats to 'our way of life.'"

Excerpt from “The Man Who Laughs” by Victor Hugo

To be "the flesh" and to be woman are two different things. Where a woman is vulnerable, on the side of pity, for instance, which so readily turns to love, Josiana was not. Not that she was unfeeling. The ancient comparison of flesh to marble is absolutely false. The beauty of flesh consists in not being marble: its beauty is to palpitate, to tremble, to blush, to bleed, to have firmness without hardness, to be white without being cold, to have its sensations and its infirmities; its beauty is to be life, and marble is death.

Flesh, when it attains a certain degree of beauty, has almost a claim to the right of nudity; it conceals itself in its own dazzling charms as in a veil. He who might have looked upon Josiana nude would have perceived her outlines only through a surrounding glory. She would have shown herself without hesitation to a satyr or a eunuch. She had the self-possession of a goddess. To have made her nudity a torment, ever eluding a pursuing Tantalus, would have been an amusement to her.

Lately I’ve been reading and writing as much as I’ve been painting. I feel like sponge.

Will painting on-site solve all your problems as a painter? Of course not, but it sure helps you to loosen up, to make decisions quickly, and to remember how much fun painting can be. 45-minute watercolor sketch I did the other day for my class in Rome. "Piazza Biscione" 15x11 inches

Thank you! Those two have strong expressive poses, one bending forward and one backward. Also the abstract one was a delightful surprise.

Thank you! I am often torn between a solid wash or incomplete brushstrokes for the backgrounds. More and more I’m drawn to big brushstrokes to make it feel more spontaneous.

When things get super-specific like this, it’s clear that someone’s opinion and comfort level is becoming policy.
