Finished watching There Will Be Blood, insanely good movie. The performances are all incredible and the story is not only great on a surface level, the layers of it make it fantastic.

Finished watching Duel, what a great movie. This guy Spielberg is pretty good, the minimalism of dialogue and score, the way it builds tension, and the cinematography has some beautiful shots. There’s just enough structure to set up the plot, but I love that so much is open to interpretation.

Finished watching Mr. Baseball, its a surprisingly decent movie about two guys learning to under each other through the power of baseball. Also those guys are Tom Selleck and Ken Takakura.

Finished watching Crank and Crank: High Voltage. They’re fun movies, if dated to their time. The editing was interesting but confusing. Very fun for what they are.

Finished watching Umamusume season 2… it’s about dreams, perseverance, and miracles. It’s a top tier work that should be a must watch for anyone that’s ever competed in anything. Tokai Teio you are goated

Finished watching Gundam Build Divers, every Build so far improves on the idea, and Divers has a lot of nice improvements, in concept and story. With a bigger roster some of the characters aren’t deep, but they each get their own attention. Some of the mobile suit designs were real fun too.

Finished watching Coyote vs. Acme, what a fun time! It would have been a shame if this never saw the light of day, the character animation is really cool and it's got some really funny moments. Every day I dream of the reckoning of David Zaslav

Finished watching Yojimbo, another great Kurosawa film. I was struck by how much use he got out of the set of just one small town. Toshiro Mifune seems to excel at any role he’s in, and the story is executed so well.

Finished watching Escape From New York; it’s just cool from start to finish, and it’s easy to see its influence in culture today. Such a fun watch, it doesn’t waste a minute of runtime. The casting is super good, they all do a great job.

Finished watching Linda Linda Linda; what a great movie about the springtime of youth. I was a big fan of the cinematography, there were some really creative and evocative shots. Seeing everything come together at the end was really beautiful.

Finished Denshattack, super fun game. Controls are great, levels are fun, and none of the mechanics ever feel forgotten. The boss fights all feel special in their own way, and the challenges are all difficult enough to be fun without being too frustrating. Insane value for a $20 game

Finished watching Build Fighters Try: Island Wars. It feels like it should have been a movie instead of a special, but everything in it is either such a blatant rip-off or commercial that I'm glad it wasn't. Perfectly mediocre and forgettable.

Finished watching Umamusume season 1, I know it's got a reputation for being overshadowed by season 2, but it's perfectly delightful on its own merit. I was surprised at how many Umas got to show up, even if briefly. The jokes were at minimum creative enough to keep it fun throughout.

Finished watching Gundam Build Fighters Try, and I really like the new 3v3 format, it allows for more creative builds and concepts and helps the core cast get some more character. The tradeoff is that the main trio all feel like they fell short of their potential for how much time they’ve onscreen.

Watched Gundam Build Fighters: GM’s Counterattack, and it was pretty good as a follow up to the series. There were a few standout moments, but otherwise just a pretty solid commercial for buying gunpla.

Finished watching Gundam Build Fighters, and if you’ve never seen any Gundam show it’s very middling, but getting all the references makes it a lot more fun, and I like its spirit. Some parts of the story work very well and others feel like they needed more attention, but it was a good time.

I can't believe I just today noticed this parallel in the Gundam X openings

A shot from Gundam X OP 1 - Dreams by Romantic Mode; the GX-9900 Gundam X is standing back to the camera, ankle deep in water, staring out at space

Watched Barbie (2023). I liked how creative it was, a lot of the sight gags were excellent. The plot was a bit squeezed in some places and superfluous in others, but the overall originality of it was refreshing to see in a sea of movies that just want you to point at things you recognize.

Finished watching Speed Grapher, I was expecting a fun wacky time, but I got an intense criticism of greed and corruption, that emphasizes the importance of real journalism. I really liked it, going in my favorites list for sure

Watched The Rocky Horror Picture Show, it’s almost hard to believe it came out in 1975. I feel like it’s something that you need to understand that you don’t understand. I’m glad there’s art that challenges you to think beyond a clouded surface out there.

Finished watching Girls Band Cry, and man is this such a huge milestone for 3D in anime. It does a great job of saying “stay true to yourself” without making it into another rockstar fantasy. I especially liked how the girls were realistic, not revolving around MC like collecting RPG party members.

Finished watching Umamusume Road to the Top. I loved the contrast of Narita Top Road with Admire Vega and T.M. Opera O, seeing each of their own motivations made the final race intense. I really love Uma for never diminishing hard work for those who don’t win, I think it elevates the story a ton.
