Finally made the neck and collar. Gonna tidy it up and… i guess that’s that? I also have some orange that i’ll be using for the neck bandanna.

So a few years back, I wanted to write a fantasy comic / game about a wizard with Anxiety and depression that had to swear off 'dangerous' spells because he was afraid he would hurt people. I was going to call it 'Tarnished', but Elden Ring. Anyway - here's some old art. Might try to revive this!

Rather than use the fabric part, i decided to use the hook part of the velcro on the eyes. I think it looks a little less messy, although I still can’t cut it with any precision. I think this is a good compromise though

So they’re a little more beveled than slopes, but they don’t distract overall from the face shape. I think I can adhere some velcro (the non-hook part) to it and it should work!

I made the fringe. I think i found a workable compromise that still made it look okay. By leaving the stuffing out of the part, it allows it to be moved around and I *think* helps it still read as hair.

Aside from the hair, this is all one piece. The back of the cheek poofs haven’t been sewn in yet, just in case I want to add something to stabilize it. I also added a ‘neck’ that I can then add to when i finally get everything else sorted. Not too bad!

Alrighty. Ears done, and aside from the hair and cheek poofs, it’s all one piece! Not glued in yet so it’s still a little lumpy, but aside from that, the lining and some accessories - we’re good!

I still have some left, and it hasn’t all been sewn together (hence all the wrinkles) but it’s looking good. The jaw keeps dropping though, and I hope that’s just because the tongue is a little damp from being washed (i use a water soluble marker) but if not, I’ll find a way to reinforce it

You probably can not tell, but i redid the entire ‘skin’ part of this face. It’s a bit lumpy because I haven’t cleaned the seams yet (gotta make sure the fur is all properly weeded first), but it’s overall a much more solid build.

Added some hair.I’ll need to add that side fringe as well, and find a way to keep the hair from drooping(i think a small bit of foam should help), but i think you get the idea.

Pro(?) tip - work with a smaller seam allowance if you can. 1/4inch allowance is sssooo much easier to align and maneuver than a half inch!

One thing that Is really satisfying about this process is that point where the pattern practically fits the base without much effort, almost like it WANTS to be connected. You can really see it taking shape

So the fur is being completely redone, but i was able to remake the eyebrows this morning. They’re a bit bigger, and look nicer. I’m probably gonna make a handful of different ones just so there can be a few more expressions, but I have the technique for making them down.

Todays progress is magnets! Embroidered some eyebrows with metal in them, and installed some magnets. They hold well enough, but the fur density makes positioning them a problem. I’ll have to trim the face after all!

Completed the sides and the back. Basically all the blue (save for the dark blue strip, but that’s at the end). It’s lumpy because I’ve left all the seam allowences and need to pick the fur through the seams before I can cut them, but it still looks round (which was a big concern)

A little progress today. The shape is holding, but i don’t like how the blue fur is thinner than the beige. Once it’s made I’ll try and trim the beige a bit more donit doesn’t look so… weird?

Printed some piercings. I might make them a bit bigger, since they squeeze pretty tightly (although that’s kinda the point?) I’ll wait until the fur is done before I decide though - the fur adds a bit of volume, and can also obliterate a shape.

Sorry for inevitable progress shares, but I’ve started furring the pattern. I’m not sure if this length is good for ‘skin’ bit I think it works for now. I can’t really afford a better trimmer ATM but i suspect I’m expecting a level of quality from myself that requires more practice anyway

Alrighty! We have glasses, AAAAND I sublimated eye blanks onto some canvas so i can actually see where I’m going - because they are sublimated this also means they won’t run or smear (literally ran them under the sink and took a paper towel to them - nothing came off!)
