I’ll be in Miami for Tropic Bound, 6-9 February. It’s an amazing new event aimed at the Global South, drawing elements of Codex and the Printed Matter Art Book Fairs.

The cover of this booklet features such an arresting illustration. Does anyone know the name of the artist?

I’ve been working on a tantalizing discovery re: the history of the German revolutions of 1848-1849. This is a handmade book, illustrated and compiled by "W.K.," whom I’ve identified as the German painter Wilhelm Kleinenbroich (1812-1895), one of the leaders of the Cologne uprising of 1848
Mixed media on paper, 21 x 18 cm. Signed A. Rethel, 1856. Caption reads: "Barrikadenkampf in Berlin am 18 März 1848“ paired with an extract from Robert Reinick's verse for Alfred Rethel's Auch ein Totentanz (1849)Watercolor on paper, 20 x 18 cm. Signed E.M.H., undated. Caption reads: "Eine sitzung der Nationalversammlung in der St. Paulskirche im Frankfurt a.m. 1848"Watercolor on paper, 17.8 x 18.7 cm. Signed A.M., undated. Caption reads: "Barrikadenkampf in Berlin am 18 März 1848“[Wilhelm Kleinenbroich] W.K., Alfred Rethel, Adolf Menzel, et al.
