I have used random kitchen stuff to “stamp” shortbread style cookies before, and that or big crystal sugar on top or stencil stuff can make them more glamorous.

If you are willing to make a spin on shortbread, these aren’t glam-looking as written but are a big hit with most folks. Uses bread flour, which is curious, but works! Brown sugar & walnut shortbread keeps well & ships well, IIRC. www.lottieanddoof.com/2009/12/12-d...

Is that korma and holly leaves (?) and something like banana-bamboo shoots? And blueberries?

Hey, this terminology doesn’t tell the truth. When you publish “sexually abused underage women”, you obscure the real meaning: children were sexually abused/assaulted/raped by Epstein. Stop using “underage women” as a term to describe people that were not adults.

Wow. I missed this when it came out, but I think I kind of love it? Thanks for mentioning this!

I’m kind of shocked that her skirt doesn’t have pattern match at center front! I would not have expected that. I see the side seam does not match, either. Kind of forgot that she wore any readymade garments.

I adore that series! The mix of gentle humor and somewhat sad nostalgia is well done.

It is cute! I like the stripes. (I think I just realized I have too many solid colored things right now.)

I was playing this with Mariah Carey’s Xmas and just lost yesterday. Someday I’ll make it a whole year, but 330-ish days isn’t so bad.

The best is probably fostering some dogs before you adopt any. You’ll find out quickly what works for you and what doesn’t!

Also, they chatter their teeth when excited, groom themselves kind of like cats, and the ones I’ve met are usually very quiet most of the time. But when the bark comes, it can be big, too!

Retired racetrack greyhounds are perfect. They sleep 98% of the time and then run like the wind at a dog park. In my limited experience, as long as you have space for a big crate and a generous dog bed, you are good to go!

I’ve never heard the term “yankee swap” before. Thanks for the opportunity to learn a new thing! D’you suppose some people bring babies to bars so they have an obvious reason to GTFO when they want to go home in the middle of stuff? Assuming they have the funds for a trusted babysitter, anyway.

Bourbon biscuits for sure, the malted milk biscuits, and maybe some interesting flavor crisps! We can have a junk food floor picnic when you get back. I’m in the mood for a pillow & blanket fort today, too.

I’m not in the recipe creation world at all, but man, this is one of the many, many jobs that needs pay reform for everyone involved, from the on-camera talent to the person lugging lighting around. Everyone deserves a safe workplace, good pay, health care, and the space to refuse when needed.

Are those ruddy shelducks? And what is the one with black head and neck, cream ring, orange upper torso and dark body? I’m trying to look them up but not having great results. Interesting little vocalizations, too! If it is okay to ask, what part of the world are these ducks in?

I’m seeing family for a limited time and they know it, just like Zach talks about. Then I’m going to a friend’s house to be kitchen/waitstaff. My family has my love, but my heart is the community at my friend’s place, and it cheers me to support our rag-tag group that can’t go home to anyone.

That’s helpful and I appreciate your effort to help folks know what to expect, but I think the entity looking to hire should include pay rate every time on every gig. This should be standard info in the ad/post. Things change and the hiring party knows best what the current rate would be.

Your story is not uncommon! However, my very social-event buddy often serves a cheese board of various types and there are often bits that aren’t claimed by guests out of politeness. Personally, I am guilty of freezing smaller portions of cheese from big blocks and then forgetting about them.

I don’t find the ethical part very difficult, but the actual scheduling is daunting. I’m also only willing to do it for select folks. I hadn’t thought about it your way before, so thanks for the insight.

The restaurant trick for moist turkey breast slices no matter what: have a pan of warm broth (box chicken broth will do!) nearby and just dip turkey slices in warm broth just before serving. Good way to reheat a little, too!

Bake stuffing separately from the turkey. I think America’s Test Kitchen or Cooks Illustrated can set you up with separate stuffing/bird recipe timing plans. I’ve read that stuffing in the turkey doesn’t get hot enough for food safety until the turkey is overdone. And people love stuffing!

Collect all the bits of cheese, get some garlic and some wine (or a little bullion/broth/cider) and chuck it all in the food processor. Once it looks spreadable & homogeneous, you can pack it into ramekins or a crock and serve with crackers and other savory bits. food52.com/story/18513-...

The thing I love most about that kid’s offer is that I imagined an extended family of folks that had something good they wanted to share and probably asked, “hey, could you bite this for me?” repeatedly in this child’s life. Just lovely to envision.

I met a very dapper little kid while I was getting a few big cookies at a bakery counter. This adorable kiddo offered to do a service for me when the cookies were in my hands. “I could bite that for you!” is now something said in our household whenever someone has something very delicious-looking.
