Exactly. But they failed her and by extention Colleen. If I'm not mistaken, Pike was barely an adult when she killed her. Teen years are horrible and brains don't fully develop until 25. With her terrible childhood, it appears that no one was paying attention. She seems to have no remorse...

Exactly. She is still a criminal. But this case is hardly black and white. I want to understand the full scope so that future tragedies may be prevented. I can empathize with abuse turning someone angry. I may not have acted, but that rage is there and I have support for it.

I am aware. I'm explaining what I wish would happen. I know it's a long shot. Considering the increase in gun violence and other hate crimes, this is something that needs to happen in general. The lack of empathy and compassion is a major problem. 😞 I wish this country would change for the better.

She is not innocent. That was never what I claimed. I was trying to advocate for ppl to understand her. Not to free her because it's probably too late for that. But to help future victims. Do you want another Pike? I hope not. So let's learn from this in order to avoid it happening again by others.

I didn't say she was. I said she was also a victim. Someone can be a criminal in one crime and a victim in another. Based on her story, I realized that she was both - she was a victim first. And because no one helped her in a way that mattered, she eventually lashed out and became a criminal.

But that won't bring Colleen back. Nothing will. So instead, they should focus on stopping situations like this from happening again. Don't just punish the criminal. Understand them first & then judge accordingly. Look for ways to protect future victims. Is that really such a hard concept? 🤨

You can still hate. She can still receive these consequences. However, I think it's important that everyone understands her first. Slemmer's mother clearly doesn't care. She is adding to the hate by advocating for execution asap. There's no understanding, just a need for revenge.

I think if she can get support, and understand her own intent, she could explain it and that can help professionals learn to stop future tragedy. This crime should not have happened. But it did because a traumatized woman lashed out. Instead of spreading more hate, at least try to understand.

All those who hurt her who are still alive need to be prosecuted. They contributed to what happened. Criminals aren't born; they are made. She did something wrong because of the failure of those around her. She was harmed and continued the cycle of harm as a result.

Get her actual support for once and teach her values that everyone failed to teach her as a child. She needs therapy, a support system, and so much more. She's already in prison. She probably will be forever. That's the justice for what she did. But there has been no justice for her.

By unlock the door, I mean that it will become locked even if it isn't rn. That's the future if we don't deal with it soon.

So yes, we are trapped. Each protest is just us yanking the belt. In order to get it off and escape, we will need more. I doubt that voting is enough unfortunately. Just getting the belt off won't unlock the door. We might need to break out. Unfortunately, that means violence, most likely. 😞

Because that's essentially what Congress is rn. We have been screaming at them to do their job but they refuse. And every time we are about to get the seat belt off, the laughing ones (GOP) interfere and make it worse. Meanwhile the excusers (Dem) are just telling us to stay calm.
